April 2019 Astrology Trends

Continuing influences…

February 13-June 12, 2019 (exact March 28, 2019 from about 7 AM MST to about 2:30 PM MST) Pluto in Capricorn oppose North Node in Cancer. (Pluto turns direct on October 2, 2019 so there’s not a chance to oppose the North Node again.) This is an opportunity for true transformation and evolution on a cosmic scale. Look at how powerful the feelings of past habits and forces can be as a shadow and choose to move into the future where and when you can. It’s a meditation in change, transformation, and shadow. What is useful and what have you learned? What is needed to grow and become the future you? What needs to dissolve about your identity, so you can heal and what can you reassess in order to serve something beyond your ego? Then, how can you put this into daily practice?

February 17-March 19, then after Mercury turns direct on March 28; this aspect occurs on April 6- 13 (exact February 24, March 15 and April 10) Mercury in Pisces trine North Node in Cancer: It might be interesting to see how your brain gets involved in the things from your past during this time period. If so, I guess it’s what is meant to be—treading the streets we used to tread. Sometimes we revisit things for a while—go back to visit the old neighborhoods—so to speak. We might not be able to make sense of it at the present time and may not be able to move forward very well, so I say let’s not sweat it and just let it be for now. We can find ourselves in mental loops where we can’t see how to move into the future, so leave ambitious decisions for later in the year. With our minds in Pisces, I think we may feel more nostalgic and intuitive during the long Mercury Retrograde time period than we do rational. Leaning into self-regulation and self-care that turns away from over-indulging will be a good enough victory.

March 5-6 Mercury stations and turns retrograde at 29 degrees Pisces just prior to conjunct with Chiron at 0 degrees Aries. (Mercury finally completes conjunction with Chiron in Aries on April 20 at 3 degrees Aries.): Mercury has been in its shadow period since February 19, getting ready for the retrograde from March 5-28. Turning retrograde so close to Chiron has me thinking we may be looking at how we have been hurt or limited creatively or intuitively and begin to review how me might break free from those mental models we hold within. The month of March is a time to look at the past; the month of April will be a time to look toward the future. We will have the opportunity to understand and learn about how we can think differently in the new astrological year.

March 12-19; April 9-15 (exact March 15 and April 12) Mercury Retrograde square Jupiter in Sagittarius: This gives you the ability to see the big picture and also helps you miss some of the finer details. It’s likely that even though you have an optimistic perspective, you will have to go back over whatever you produce during this time. (There’s a danger of over-estimating your abilities or coming across as egotistical also.)

March 13-20; April 7-14 (exact March 16 and April 11) Mercury Retrograde sextile Pluto in Capricorn: One way to focus your communication that is supported is the area of psychology and deeper subject matters. When you turn away from the frivolous and work on virtuous transformation, Astrology supports you. This is how the energies are directing our expression for the highest good at this time. Therefore, I suppose talk with your spiritual mentor or therapist and think about your mental models instead of go to a party…

March 16-April 12 (exact March 22 and April 7) Mercury Retrograde in Pisces sextile Saturn in Capricorn: A great time for looking into the history of your family and ancestors. A time of good judgment for studying, learning, teaching, organizing, and looking at long-term projects. More serious subjects are favored.

March 18-April 9 (exact March 24 and April 2) Mercury Retrograde conjunct Neptune in Pisces: You may be overwhelmed by the amount of information you receive in dreams, during meditation, and intuitively. Subject matters such as Astrology, spirituality, etc. may be much more up your style at this time. Stay away from those who are anything other than unbiased and compassionate. Those who are unable to let go of deceit and aggression are not able to manifest their higher natures yet.  (Speaking of Martin Luther earlier in this newsletter, this is one of the aspects in his natal chart!)

March 31: Mars enters Gemini: Mars entered the sign of initiation and communication just before April began. Your energy may pick up and you may feel more like talking and reaching out to people than you did in March. Also, Mercury turned direct and as it resumes its forward movement, this placement of Mars will help the collective momentum to begin to turn around and become more motivated to get projects and people moving in an increasingly active direction once more. Seeds may begin to peek out of the ground to sprout, both metaphorically and physically, as Springtime is supported by this Mars in Gemini placement. Our bodies may like a lot of varied movement, so exercise routines can also benefit from activities that incorporate numerous activities instead of many repetitions of one activity.

April Planetary Influences…

April 5 New Moon in Aries: There’s nothing that compares for starting new projects and dreams like the new moon in Aries! What have you been dreaming of putting into motion? Now is the time to bring it into being—and preferably begin prior to the 10th of April when 3 major planets will begin their long retrograde periods. The outer planet retrogrades are good times to still get things done, but it’s nice to send the spark of inspiration into the universe of our lives now, prior to their retrograde. Plus the Summer will ask us to honor the divine feminine rather than be extremely active. So plan to start your important projects NOW. Make the decision about your long-term projects for the year and then allow their retrograde motions to allow you to implement those decisions. Use this new moon as your clear inspiration to connect to your heart and soul—your true self. There is a T-square connected to this New Moon, but I think it connects you to enough tension in your life that you can understand your unique place in the scheme of life so you can create something needed and new. It’s connected to the Saturn/Pluto conjunction opposing the North Node. This is asking all of us to restructure ourselves and transform to make a new human family. It’s time for you to begin (or continue with a new step of) your true path, step by careful step. The moon will reflect your movement as you take this next step.

April 7 – April 13 (exact April 10) Venus in Pisces conjunct Neptune in Pisces: When Venus and Neptune meet, the potential expands for romance, compassion, and spiritual experiences. The flip side of the coin is that negativity, aggression and harshness can barely be tolerated by sensitive folks. Motivation to finish things may be lowered, as well. Focusing on creativity, music, and the arts would yield better results. Helping others is recommended instead of attempting to be too “realistic.” Find some way to give yourself downtime and the ability to daydream.

April 7 – April 13 (exact April 10) Sun in Aries square Saturn in Capricorn: Responsibilities are knocking at the door but your doorbell may not be working and you may not hear the call. People may question your commitment and you may feel a lot of pressure to perform or experience a block of some sort when it comes to fulfilling your responsibilities. This may cause worry or anxiety. Instead of looking for praise or pushing yourself, it may be better to schedule around this block if your can. This may simply be a bad time to attempt to deliver anything. Anything at all! Loot at how it intersects with the Venus/Neptune conjunction! That’s why.

April 10 Jupiter turns Retrograde in Sagittarius (through August 11): Jupiter is in its home sign of Sagittarius during this year’s retrograde. Three slow-moving retrogrades begin in April this year. This is the first, and Jupiter works in conjunction with Saturn like the in-breath and the out-breath. Jupiter expands. Saturn constricts. When planets retrograde, their influence is generally dampened. Both Jupiter and Saturn are in their home signs, so they could be seen as traveling ambassadors who have gone to their home countries and are now taking some time off to be with their families during the several months of retrograde. That means Jupiter (Zeus) will not necessarily be paying such close attention to handing out its beneficent gifts around the zodiac. Also, it may portend some calm and give a chance for you to explore without such strong wind at your back—which could mean peace and calm. Another way to look at retrograde planets is that their energies go from conscious to unconscious. In the case of Jupiter, you may experience unconscious expansion in the areas of wisdom, learning, philosophy, mentorship and relationship with teachers (coalescence of information you could only understand intellectually up to now), and the larger picture of things. In fact, these pictures may occur as projections—dreams and visions. During mid-April, you may feel the inertia of Jupiter’s stationary period while it “turns around” and its speed is decreased. This decrease in speed will happen when it turns direct in August, also. The speed decrease when going retrograde/direct occurs for all planets.

April 7-13 (Exact April 10) Venus in Pisces sextile Saturn in Capricorn: Serious long-term relationships emerge from meetings that occur at this time. Also, this may result in large age-gaps or mentor-mentee relationships. They may be romantic or platonic. This is a nice blend of integrating an artistic approach and understand along with structuring an evaluative way of testing the waters and learning about creativity and organizing life.

April 11 – 16 (Exact April 14) Venus in Pisces trine North Node in Cancer): If you use your heart and your divine feminine energy, you can feel into the family of the world at this time. What would you like to create and contribute? Raising this energy needs to be done consciously.

April 10 – April 16 exact (April 13) Sun in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn: This conflictual energy puts us in touch with how our ego energy can be at odds with power. Maybe this will be shown to us because someone who is in a position of authority will externalize it. Maybe it will be because we, ourselves, need to examine how we use power. The highest use would be to examine power structures in relation to the human ego. How does personal power intersect with group power? How do both intersect with other forms of power—the power of universal consciousness? The power of nature? Maybe acknowledging what we create and the creations we are only a small part of and interact with would help us to keep from setting up any conflicting social situations associated with the square aspect. In any case, understanding that a square aspect is occurring and attributing conflicts to it will probably keep us from doing harm. Doing no harm is where it’s at, baby! Also, an easy way to work with this energy is to do some third chakra meditations if you like that approach. Also, if you have something broken that needs to be fixed—power up your life by fixing or replacing it.

April 11 – April 17 (exact April 14) Sun in Aries trine Jupiter in Sagittarius: Using the Jupiter energy in a trine aspect can be a way to expand and access our understanding of ourselves. This is an opportunity to examine ourselves and understand how we are growing in new ways. It is a time to realize we’re in a new personal phase and gain / synthesize new wisdom. You can also do this through exercise when fire signs are involved—getting physical through mountain climbing or some sort of inspirational sport activity is highly recommended. You can try a new and daring sport or activity if you like.

April 12 – April 17 (exact April 14) Venus in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn: This is supportive energy to integrate romance, creativity, and financial support along with the other aspects during this time to whatever you are transforming. The feminine energy of Venus in Pisces is almost like an integrated heartbeat at the center of the ocean that can touch on the earth energy of Pluto’s earthquake energy to calm it down and say—“breathe, friend… not so much now…” Venus may have a hard time not getting pulled into the underworld.

April 13 – April 18 (exact April 15) Venus in Pisces square Jupiter in Sagittarius: Venus and Jupiter are generally the closest of allies, so when they’re in square aspect, well, they’re still friends. It’s just that they’re a bit muted or watered down. Jupiter is also retrograde. So, for these two planets that operate as the gift-givers of the zodiac it’s as if partners are without their best supports on these days. Venus is trying to hold up both sides of a heavy barbell—and doing it with Pluto (see above), the heaviest planet in the chart. Jupiter has taken a siesta.

April 17 Mercury Enters Aries: Oh, how we wish to BE through touching the objects of this world; through our nervous response to the world around us. Mercury rules our nervous system and Aries is the sign of birth and being. As Mercury the swift-footed moves through Aries, we want to take everything around us and make it our own, so please do not embody thief-Mercury with impulsive Aries, but instead embody the fact that you probably will pick up something new this month and feel it all through your nervous system. I hope you will be able to sleep. (Jupiter and Saturn retrograde along with Neptune in Pisces, Uranus in Taurus, and the other Pisces/Taurus influences may actually help in regard to allowing us to rest, so perhaps the skies are working together after all.)

April 17 – 22 (exact April 19) Mercury in Aries conjunct Chiron on Aries: This is the influence that has me wondering about people’s abilities to act the thief. Also, look out for head injuries and brain injuries. On the plus side, you may find healing instead of injury for issues and injuries of these natures. The first half of April may be a crucial time to consciously train your mind to be ready for a new cycle of growth when it hits Chiron. Life is asking us to step up our trust and our actions. No sitting on the sidelines; Aries wants us thinking and acting out of integrity and with some assertive, creative energy. Use Mercury to develop a strong mind this cycle.

April 19 Full Moon in Libra: The moon travels in and out of the earth’s orbit, and this full moon is the time in the month during which the moon is traveling outside the earth’s orbit. (The new moon is when the moon slips into the earth’s obit and is closest to the earth). This is symbolic of how we live closer and further from one another in relationship, balancing our love and fear toward one another. During this Full Moon, which is opposing Uranus, we will need to gather up our sense of what our inner heartfelt values are and how we wish to embody and express them as we work on our relationships with the Taurus and Libra/Venus energies brought to the surface for evaluation and integration. If you find yourself emotionally disrupted or surprised by the Sun/Uranus conjunction opposing the Moon, use that to balance out your body and mind. Taurus energy needs to start in the body first, so let yourself use nature, movement, and meditation to heal.  Offer those around you your balance as a path through.

April 20 Sun Enters Taurus: Taurus rules the neck, and the idea of holding our heads up high in the feminine energy of Taurus occurs to me a s a beautiful symbol of Spring this year. Taurus is the earth itself learning to manifest life. The very essence of life emerging from the decay of the past, using the past to create new life—is the essence of the Taurus magic. Slow and steady and soft, we feel how the solar power moving into Taurus changes from the fire of Aries into the slow body of Taurus. Aries wants to spark and Taurus wants to plant. That is why Taurus can be called possessive—the way the soil possesses a seed for a little while—to offer it space to grow.

April 20 Venus Enters Aries: Venus moves into the sign that lights the flame of manifesting new beings. Our personal needs may feel paramount. Conversely, we may feel childlike and attracted to a high level of activity, stimulation, intellectual activity, and sexuality. Enjoy the fiery interaction and inspiration that comes from relationships and projects while Venus if in Aries.

April 20 – 26 (exact April 23) Venus in Aries conjunct Chiron on Aries: It is possible to inflict wounds in relationships or heal relationships. It is possible to help or heal your financial or creative life. A new start is available provided you keep your eye on healing. During the first half of April, use your time to get grounded and spiritual so you’re not unconsciously seeking battle with this Venus/Chiron aspect—but instead consciously use the energy for healing and a new cycle of growth.

April 20 – 25 (exact April 22) Sun in Taurus conjunct Uranus in Taurus: The Sun is not the light we see from the Sun but what is behind that light—the power of a star. We may not be able to see into a star but we can sense a bit of starlight in the fact that we ourselves are made from starlight. Uranus manifests in varying degrees of intensity and constructivism as it speaks the language of wholeness to its parts, or the language of earth to its inhabitants. Ideas come to and through poets, artists, inventors, scientists, statespersons, and revolutionaries. Any seeds of ideas that have been planted inside you may unexpectedly take root with this aspect. Or, you may see power outages…

April 24 Pluto in Capricorn turns Retrograde (through October 3): Pluto is one of those planets that has to do with what life does to us. We have little control where Pluto events are concerned because they’re rather non-personal when it comes down to it, in many cases. While we have little control, we may observe that events conspire and swirl around us to transform us and affect us as individuals even though we feel a bit like they are beyond our reach. With Pluto retrograde, we may feel we have reach into things we ordinarily would not have access to affect. Allow yourself some time and energy to do what you can do to help restructure and recreate the world anew this year in whatever capacity you have to do so.

April 21 – May 2 (exact April 27) Mars in Gemini square Neptune in Pisces: Mars is doing a variety of things. Maybe Mars can’t decide on which thing to prioritize under this additional Neptune in Pisces aspect. Maybe Mars would do best to DO some dreaming and psychic activities. Prayers and connecting to the oneness aspects of living. And do less, as Mars may run into some blocks if trying to get very assertive. Less may be more in terms of direct action and communication.

April 29 Saturn in Capricorn turns Retrograde (ends September 16): Saturn in Capricorn means the tests are canceled for the middle of the year. Saturn is the teacher of the zodiac. For now, this planet of restriction to help us streamline our focus will be taking a long siesta for the middle of 2019. Saturn helps us understand and define ourselves as we experience these lessons and individuate through the process of refining and strengthening ourselves and our character. During Saturn retrograde, we are tasked with self-determination. Use the time to appreciate and enjoy our wisdom and enjoy the discipline of living within our means and abilities to create wonderful structure and progress around ourselves in our environments, free of too many additional burdens. A time to catch up.

April 30 – October 3 (Exact June 16) Neptune in Pisces Trine North Node in Cancer: The divine feminine is a study in depth of receiving rather than pushing forward. Learning to receive and accept; forgive and rely on intuition—these are very different approaches than our cultural indoctrination. Taking a lot of time to learn and experience this approach during the Summer would make a better world, without a doubt, says Astrology.

April 29 – May 3 (exact May 1): Mercury in Aries square North Node in Cancer: Mercury feels the urge to accomplish many tasks but the North Node is calling us to experience the influence of a divine mothering and re-parenting. Relaxation is in the air for the Summer. I’m sorry, Mercury. It is time to allow and slow down instead of business as usual. Try creativity in the area of your heart’s desires if you really want to achieve something.

March 2019 Astrology Trends

Continuing influences…

December 24-March 24 (exact January 31) Saturn in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces. Aww… Our responsibilities and our dreams are not quite meshing. Both these Planets are at home in their respective signs. Saturn is at home in Capricorn and Neptune is at home in Pisces. So, each is strong right now! Our spiritual energy is pulling us to the east and our sense of being a grounded and rational person is pull us to the north. Our compass keeps twirling from one direction to the other for a few months while we try to steer a ship and see to the far shore. As we learn to honor both heaven and earth during the course of our days, by the end of this Spring, we should have built some daily practices that are pretty robust.

February 18-March 10 (exact February 28) Mars in Taurus sextile Sun in Pisces: A boost of energy! This aspect gives physical energy as well as a degree of emotional cleansing for the end of February. We should feel a sense of aliveness and vitality. We can attend to our projects and get plenty accomplished, enjoy some sports activities, and enjoy being together with loved ones.

March Planetary Influences…

March 1-3 Venus in Capricorn Square Uranus in Aries: You may feel restless and bursting to begin something new and creative with this cardinal energy— (make sure it is not an illicit romantic affair!)—but channel it into art or inspiration of some sort.

March 6: Big day! New Moon in Pisces (15 degrees) and Uranus transitions into Taurus.

Sun and Moon in Pisces (the New Moon) conjunct Neptune in Pisces, sextile Saturn in Capricorn, and sextile Mars in Taurus: The ego can dissolve at this time of the year as we meditate on spiritual matters and swim in the waters of Pisces! Pisces is the integration and oneness that brings all other signs together; the end of the astrological year. The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is “In a quiet moment, the flow of inspiration.” It’s a time of reflection and depth when we can deeply contemplate our connection to a larger universe. If you allow yourself some time alone during this New Moon, you will be giving your spirit and life a gift.

Outwardly, there’s an increase in imagination, empathy, psychic impressions, and the ability to understand (and hopefully honor—instead of exploit) the thoughts and feelings of others. Mars in Taurus and Saturn in Capricorn seem almost protective of this New Moon, as if they are Earth sentries watching out on either side of the sensitive Pisces thrumming heart. Saturn in Capricorn provides integrity and Mars in Taurus provides thoughtful action. Both can be channels to manifest your dreams and ideas when you touch deeply into your heart and into universal themes on this New Moon. If you are working on something that is meaningful, and especially if it is meaningful to restructuring the world around you, Astrology offers you encouragement.

March 6 Uranus moves into Taurus and will not move back into Aries again during our lifetimes. Uranus in Taurus means the physical world, the financial world, the relational world, and the ways we eat, posses, and experience life are stimulated by Uranus’s radical influence. Uranus acts like lightning strikes a tree. Taurus is earth and Uranus is Space, so space travel may expand during the next seven years. Taurus rules the arts, and Uranus rules network and digital culture, so artforms may expand in new ways and computing may undergo an entirely new revolution. Aries is the Pioneer, but Taurus is the Restaurateur and Artist—so prepare to settle down for comfort and relaxation—a great meal—instead of bold new journeys into unknown territory alone.

March 5-12 (exact March 9) Sun in Pisces sextile Saturn in Capricorn: This is a time to focus on what matters to you. If you were to turn away from your focus, you would not feel good. Integrity will get you through better than entertainment or losing yourself in any sort of indulgence.

March 5-19 (exact March 10) Mars in Taurus sextile Neptune in Pisces: A good time for soul mates/twin flames to meet, or re-meet, since Mercury is retrograde! You may feel you are meeting someone you have known from past lives. With Mars in Taurus, this can be an earthy and sensual connection. Neptune adds the deeply spiritual sense to any union. Those who are in a long-term partnership can feel the sensitivity of their relationship cause a very nice attunement to one another. Ideal time for romantic partners to enjoy one another! Alternatively, you can spend time with friends and groups of people and enjoy the fantastic vibes that emanate from being together. Drama, music, dance, etc. are all favored.

March 10-16 (exact March 13) Sun in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn: Focusing on psychological issues can help you solve some mysteries. Also, you can explore issues of power and influence and how they have affected your ability to integrate your whole self. How can people help or hurt others through their reactions and behaviors, and what they build in life? What do we have the power to choose?

March 12-16 (exact March 14) Mercury Retrograde conjunct Sun in Pisces: Reviewing your communication, self-expression, maybe even feeling you may take a class. Reading, writing, details, travel around town (back and forth), distraction, talking, and a high level of stimulation. Possibly re-doing things or re-starting archived projects or endeavors.

March 11-17 (exact March 14) Sun in Pisces trine North Node in Cancer: At this time, we have access to sense the direction our lives should take—should we choose to tune into this energy. The universe is gently guiding us along. The danger is that we can get lulled into the feeling that everything is just fine the way it is and we don’t have to do anything. You will be better in the long run if you initiate some new activities that push you into some new territory.

March 11-17 (exact March 14) Sun in Pisces square Jupiter in Sagittarius: Does everything look and sound good? Does it feel like you could expand infinitely? Unfortunately, that is Jupiter talking and gravity will still be a factor when this aspect ends. Somewhat in contradiction to the Pisces Sun trine Cancer North Node, this aspect also asks you to practice moderation and good habits in all things. I will meet you there, and I will do the same.

March 15-20 (exact March 17) Mars in Taurus sextile Mercury Retrograde in Pisces: Your intuition and actions are aligned in such a way that they affect you physically. You may really feel a hunger to connect with others and a courage to communicate how you feel more than usual. This may not come out as words but in how you move, relate, sing, dance, emote, or act. You may feel a strong sense of purpose and justice, a strong need to comfort, protect, and be comforted. Safety, relationships, and commitment are key.

March 17, 2019-February 26, 2020 24 (exact January 12, 2020 at 22 degrees 46 minutes from about 8:43-10:43 AM MST) Saturn in Capricorn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn: There comes a time to rebuild the foundations of rotting structures and next January it will be come apparent that the time has come. This is one of the most important aspects of our lifetimes. The last time Saturn and Pluto met in Capricorn was, I believe, 1518. In October of 1517, Martin Luther hammered the notice on a church door and during 1518, the protestant religious reformation began. One way or another, change to the systems that have been slowly sinking and decaying will be manifest. How this affects you, personally, will be anyone’s guess. However, this is a long-term aspect. For now, it is coming into orb this month and will get stronger until it is exact next January. Saturn in Capricorn is the hardest working placement in the zodiac. Pluto in Capricorn is the destroyer/creator of governments. Together, they will transform the social constructs around us.

March 20: Sun enters Aries at 3:59 PM and then Full Moon in Libra and Sun enters Aries, March 20 7:43 pm:

New Astrological Year Chart, or what 2019/2020 has in store for us: The following aspects occur during March, but also the snapshot as the astrological year begins sets the tone for the entire year!

New Year Chart 2019

Sun conjunct Chiron in Aries: This year, we will need to be tough as nails and also face our traumas, wounds, conflicts, and hardships. It is important to learn from and grow from what has previously held us back. We will develop regenerative healing powers as a result.

Mars in Taurus Trine Pluto in Capricorn: Provided you have everything you need, you can take action finally on the things you have been waiting for! This aspect provides lots of birthing energy for the things you have been pregnant with for a long time. You probably need to give a few powerful pushes, though. [March 15-March (Exact March 20)]

Venus in Aquarius Square Mars in Taurus: The divine feminine demands freedom, stimulation, and liberation this year. The divine masculine is moving slowly, feeling things out carefully, and craving comfort. [March 21]

Venus in Aquarius Sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius: Good luck indicator. This is a warm and happy aspect allowing broad expansion, favoring generosity and socializing, happy love-making and sensuality in relationships, bestowing gifts and good fortune, and all-around benefits. A great signal that the new year is full of good fortune. The only caution is to practice moderation, as always, where Jupiter is involved. [March 21]

Mercury Retrograde conjunct Neptune in Pisces: You may be overwhelmed by the amount of information you receive in dreams, during meditation, and intuitively. Subject matters such as Astrology, spirituality, etc. may be much more up your style at this time. Stay away from those who are anything other than unbiased and compassionate. Those who are unable to let go of deceit and aggression are not able to manifest their higher natures yet.  (Speaking of Martin Luther earlier in this newsletter, this is one of the aspects in his natal chart!) [March 18-April 9 (exact March 24 and April 2)]

Pluto in Capricorn oppose North Node in Cancer: Evolution that is calling you forth to become more than who you thought you could be. The dissolution of your ego beyond what you can control. Looking to your higher self for guidance in order to integrate the conflict between chaos and evolution.

Mars in Taurus sextile North Node in Cancer: The North Node in Cancer is about learning to view others as precious members of our family. With Mars sextile the North Node, it’s possible to put that attitude into action. On our personal journeys, we can collaborate and cooperate in ways that are courageous and disciplined. This helps us help others. As we navigate our paths forward, we can sometimes do the most by doing less. Allowing others the space to be themselves and observing their strengths can be a very Mars-in-Taurus way of actively supporting them. Sometimes allowing others to grow is like allowing our children to grow by arranging opportunities for them. [March 16- March 26 (Exact March 21).]

–End of astrological new year aspects–

March 26-March 31 (exact March 27) Venus in Pisces Sextile Uranus in Taurus: Another good time to meet new people, whether platonic or romantic. A good time for entertainment and artistic endeavors, as well. Originality and self-expression are supported.

Mercury stations and turns direct on March 28 at 16 degrees Pisces, the same degree as Neptune: It would be super nice if you can take this day to be in solitude or with your friends because not only is Mercury doing a turn-about, but conjunction to Neptune is one of the most confusing aspects for communication to boot! It’s probably a good aspect for meditation and dreaming; not so good for talking and doing business. If someone “gets you” on March 28, they really “get you!”

February 2019 Astrology Trends

Continuing influences….

So each is strong right now! Our spiritual energy is pulling us to the east and our sense of being a grounded and rational person is pull us to the north. Our compass keeps twirling from one direction to the other for a few months while we try to steer a ship and see to the far shore. As we learn to honor both heaven and earth in the course of our days, by the end of this Spring, we should have built some daily practices that are pretty robust.

January 24-February 4 (exact January 29/30) Sun in Aquarius conjunct Mercury in Aquarius. Not only is this a strong and amazing time for communication breakthroughs, but communication about and an investigation into human values and an experience of group consciousness.

January 28– February 5 (exact February 2) Mars in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn. As Saturn and Pluto near their conjunction, each planet will make aspects to one then the other. Mars first squared Saturn and now squares Pluto shortly after. Mars square Pluto is an explosive, powerful, and frustrating combination. Use the mantra “do no harm” during these days and allow no harm to be done to you.

January 31-February 3 (exact February 3) Venus in Sagittarius square Chiron in Pisces. If anyone asks you to prove yourself, let it go and know you’re learning who to trust or not trust. True love and support doesn’t come with tests.

February Astrological Trends…

February 3 Venus moves into the sign of Capricorn: A good time to start long-term relationships or financial ventures. Also, long-lasting creative projects are favored during the Capricorn time period. Capricorn asks you to pursue your long-term goals and get the job done rather than procrastinate any longer.

New Moon in Aquarius February 4: This New Moon is at the mid-point between Saturn and Neptune, which tells us it’s a fortunate moon for integrating wisdom and dreams. It almost seems the New Year starts on this New Moon instead of on January 1 this year, and January may have been very busy if yours anything like mine was. This is chance to catch your breath and really focus on your intentions. You can slow down and restart. Make some wishes on this Full Moon, knowing they can easily manifest. Your ability to follow-through and settle down has arrived. It is a time of positivity, generosity, benevolence, and friendship. Mercury influences say that your thinking should be clear, and Jupiter says you can take a broad perspective. Humanitarian pursuits and bringing heaven to earth are promoted with Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune involved.

Supporting New Moon Aspects:

Saturn in Capricorn Sextile Neptune in Pisces (See Above)…

February 2-6 (exact February 3) Mercury in Aquarius sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius: An aspect of the student of life. Adopting a forward-looking perspective and thinking about the future is just fine under this aspect. Positive thinking is the word of the day. Less stress than usual and diplomatic skills are enhanced. It’s easy to make friends, make decisions, and communicate on all sorts of levels.

(End Supporting New Moon Aspects)

February 5-10 (exact February 6) Mercury in Aquarius sextile Mars in Aries: Mind and body become one for a little while in the sign of Aquarius. Adding a little extra effort to our endeavors can help us achieve just about anything. Our purpose and initiative is strong. Friendship and groups are favored. You can be direct and honest in your actions and speech, as well as advocate for others. You may find people to be extra attractive and others may say you have some extra charisma of your own. It’s a good time to propose marriage or propose a date.

February 3-12 (exact (February 8) Sun in Aquarius sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius: Fortune smiles down on us with this transit! Resistance to progress vanishes as the way is cleared for us to move forward. You can expand into new projects or grow your current endeavors. This is one of the most fortunate influences in all of astrology. The growth can be material or non-material (such as spiritual). You can move forward (whether you’re working alone or in a group) in leaps and bounds right now. A powerful and positive time.

February 7-11 (exact February 10) Mercury in Aquarius sextile Uranus in Aries. New insights in regard to electricity / air / travel / space / technology. Breakthrough and psychic energy abound, as does inspiration and pioneering progress. You can find yourself the recipient of many creative and out of the ordinary thoughts and heightened visual and heart-felt experiences. The senses and psychic impressions can be profound. Stay open-minded and open to hearing from people who are different than you are to learn and grow.

Mercury enters Pisces February 11: What has kept us out of the deep waters? What keeps us holding on to the edge or the shore? What happens next in our collective imagination? Mercury in Pisces will stay a while as the planet will traverse Pisces forward, backward through Pisces in retrograde during the majority of March, and then forward again. We will have about 3 months of contemplating the deep waters of living instead of staying on the surface. Let’s take advantage of feeling into our ideas and daily living. Risks are the price of anything worthwhile; messes are part of the process of creations; a dark night of the soul occurs prior to a breakthrough; multiple win-win scenarios exist and when one person loses both sides actually lose; it’s great to take the long way home; there is infinite value in dreaming and imagination; conflicts are only the surface of something—underneath we are one—and that is Pisces.

February 6-14 (exact February 13) Mars in Aries conjunct Uranus in Aries. People will likely want to push things through with such aggression and force all of a sudden, and with speed, as Uranus breeds urgency. The urge to break free of something is strong under Mars conjunct Uranus. Try not to be one of the people swayed by this aspect if you can resist the energies of this conjunction. Like Robin Williams, who had this conjunction in his natal chart, you may observe people talking a mile a minute, seemingly pushed on by a manic energy. This aspect is in square aspect to the North Node in Cancer, which means it is not in alignment with the sense of a higher collective “family” approach, which would take everyone into account instead of ruthlessly attending to a singular desire. These are cardinal influences, which leads me to believe that there are new things that are being brought into manifestation. When you create, create inspiration and ideas instead of trying to manifest it at this time. Write down your ideas and plan out things, but make sure to stay away from imposing your thoughts on others.

February 13-June 12, 2019 (exact March 28, 2019 from about 7 AM MST to about 2:30 PM MST) Pluto in Capricorn oppose North Node in Cancer. (Pluto turns direct on October 2, 2019 so there’s not a chance to oppose the North Node again.): Power and the abuse of power are up for examination. The feeling that the past is being relived can be strong when Pluto and the North Node interact, in a karmic sense. Pluto would like to transform the lessons of the past instead of see us relive them and the North Node certainly would like to see us evolve. We are asked to restructure the world in ways that serve families right now. It’s difficult for people to trust authority figures.

February 14, early morning MST, Mars enters Taurus: Time to add the meticulous details to the projects started under the Mars in Aries influence. Mars in Taurus is a time of slowing down, planting the seeds and waiting patiently. It’s a fixed earth sign, where patience rules the day and slow and steady is the way forward. Enjoyment and comfort rule the activities of the Taurean Mars. Taurus is sensual, romantic, focused on the body, artistic and creative, a lover of saving and efficiency, attracted to business and finance, and one of the builders of the world. Along with being a hard worker, Taurus receives well, and so your powers of attraction may be stronger.

February 14-20 (exact February 17) Venus in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces: An increase in sensitivity, empathy, creativity, passion, romance, and tenderness can be experienced under this aspect, Enjoy relationships and enhancing both your own beauty and the environments around you. Intuition and spirituality are also heightened.

February 14-21 (exact February 18) Venus in Capricorn conjunct Saturn in Capricorn: This aspect can lead to financial hardships, relationship adversities, or creative stoppages. You may find challenges to expressing the love and affection you feel. Also, you may experience sadness or distance in a relationship. You could use the time to focus on practical considerations such as budgeting or the practical aspects of a relationship.

February 16-18 (exact February 18) Sun in Aquarius sextile Uranus in Aries: New, creative, and unusual things are brewing in the world! Time to bring them into manifestation. Let yourself focus on creative pursuits and feel free to work with others to do so. Others may spark some brilliant insights and you may find yourself curious about some things that you would not expect. Let yourself experience some cultural and social interests, or scientific and futuristic explorations.

February 18 Sun enters Pisces: How will you integrate the wisdom you have gained? Ho can you be selfless in your service to the world? What is in your imagination that you can begin to express? How are you experiencing your empathy? How in touch with universal consciousness are you? These are some of the questions to answer during the month of Sun in Pisces.

Full Moon in Virgo, February 19 8:53 am MST:  The Full Moon provides an opportunity to integrate many of the conflicting aspects (Venus/Saturn and Mars/Uranus along with Mercury/Neptune) to provide a touch of excitement and interest where we can be sure that the divine has a plan for us and we can take some steps into the unknown future with confidence, despite setbacks or challenges that we face. We can find the faith to take action despite trials and tests and surmount the obstacles. Abiding trust emerges as the theme for this Full Moon in Virgo.

February 17-20 (exact February 19) Mercury in Pisces conjunct Neptune in Pisces.  The subjects of art and spirituality are highlighted with Mercury and Neptune meeting. Communicate and explore the mysteries of life during this time, as the mysteries of life would like to have a dialogue with you, for sure. Meditation, dreaming, Tarot, an all ways of talking with life are recommended. Compassion and support are the highest use of these energies. Deceit, projection, miscommunication, fear, paranoia—these are lowest.

February 17-23 (exact February 20) Mercury in Pisces sextile Saturn in Capricorn: Long-term projects such as investments and real-estate transactions are favored as this is a time for clear-headed thinking and concentration. A great time to communicate openly and honestly also. Saturn is a serious influence, so it’s not for flippant matters and brings a gravitas to Mercury matters.

February 20-26 (exact February 23) Venus in Capricorn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn: This time increases the need people have for attention in relationships. It’s a powerful pull toward feeling loved and attractive, so be sensitive to your partner’s need for affection and time. Their behavior may baffle you or your own needs may feel suddenly overwhelming as you realize you are needing more love and affection. If we’re not aware and careful, we can feel jealous or possessive.

February 17-March 2 (exact February 24) Mercury in Pisces sextile Venus in Capricorn: Barriers to social harmony dissipate under his favorable aspect as people begin to get friendly. You can relax and socialize if you like. People seem extra charming (including you). You can see how to move forward and see how everyone can benefit from solutions.

February 23-28 (exact February 25) Mercury in Pisces trine North Node in Cancer: When doors simply open for you, you’re going to know you’re headed in the right direction. This is an influence where, if you pay attention, you can glimpse a link to see your future. You may spend some time contemplating where you will be in the future.

February 18-March 10 (exact February 28) Mars in Taurus sextile Sun in Pisces: A boost of energy to end the month! This aspect gives physical energy as well as a degree of emotional cleansing for the end of February. We should feel a sense of aliveness and vitality. We can attend to our projects and get plenty accomplished, enjoy some sports activities, and enjoy being together with others.

January 2019 Astrology Trends

Continuing Influences…

December 24-March 24 (exact January 31) Saturn in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces. Aww… Our responsibilities and our dreams are not quite meshing. Both these Planets are at home in their respective signs. Saturn is at home in Capricorn and Neptune is at home in Pisces.

December 31, late evening in MST, Mars enters the Sign of Aries. Mars begins a whole new zodiac cycle as it moves into Aries. Acting from instinct will feel like the right thing to do. Exercise will be soothing. The body will feel energized, and you will lead with physical exertion. The warrior, the pioneer, and the inspirational leader will be the archetypes. No longer will you feel the need to put things off. Short term activities are fine to do when Mars is in Aries. With Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, along with other influences, these activities will enhance the long-term influences, so there’s not a lot of risk of missing any long-term goals at this juncture. It’s a shot in the arm of energy. Aries is the spark of a new fire for Mars’s actions and motivation.

December 28-January 6 (exact January 2, 2019) Sun in Capricorn conjunct Saturn in Capricorn. When the Sun meets Saturn, there is a sense that things are very serious in the world. There can be a test of morality, readiness, integrity, and structural integrity (this can actually be about your house and daily routines).

December 23-January 31 (exact January 13) Jupiter in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces. Make sure you live within limits because Jupiter has you overly-optimistic when Neptune can have you living in a dream world. This means keep your spending in check. Keep your eating and decisions in check. Stay away from drugs and alcohol. In general, practice self-regulation and focus. While you’re at it—don’t work too much, either!

January Influences…

January 1-4 (exact January 4) Mercury in Sagittarius trine Retrograde Uranus in Aries: Broad-minded and expansive thinking characterizes this time period, focused on getting things done. Original insights may occur to you.

January 1-4 (exact January 4) Mercury in Sagittarius square Chiron in Pisces: Mental anguish may occur, or you may be focused on how your thinking has not served you. How you operate on a daily basis is being changed and transmuted and here is one of the touch-points of that change.

January 4 Mercury moves into Capricorn at about 8 PM MST: During Mercury in Capricorn (through January 24), get your doctor to look at your skeleton, knees, and joints to support your stability. Mercury is our nervous system, our mind and memory, our daily routines and habits. All of these can be stabilized during the journey through Capricorn. You can enjoy the Capricorn energy of ambition and social spirit as well.

January 2-8 (exact January 5) Sun in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces: Capricorn solutions are thrift, caution, perseverance, and self-discipline. When the Sun sheds light on these powerful remedies and Neptune offers its view into the divine realm in a beneficial aspect such as this, we can bring heaven to earth in the arena of sensation and grounded behaviors. “Use what God gave you.” Pisces is the last stop on the zodiac, so this may also be a time of very positive divine releasing, if you wish to engage crystals or water in rituals or meditations.

January 2-7 (exact January 5) Venus in Scorpio trine North Node in Cancer: Union occurs socially whether it is recognized by the individual or not, and the sign of Scorpio is where the power to understand our impact on others occurs in a deep and transformative way. Cancer rules the family and the places we seek comfort. The North Node is telling us that if we wish, this is a time to touch deeply the recognition that family is a deeply important and transformative part of our social fabric for us to value in meaningful ways. Scorpio often can engage compensatory or shunning behaviors and learns later to rise into empowerment of the self and others as they transcend their issues. Similarly, we need to use aspects such as this to realize that valuing families with true measures of support may mean learning to view social contracts with a much deeper fabric than we have previously done. That is what the North Node will be teaching us during its journey through Cancer.

January 5: Capricorn Solar Eclipse/New Moon: Saturn is conjunct the Sun and Moon in Capricorn and Neptune is sextile the Sun/Moon eclipse, so while Saturn constricts and narrows focus and energy and asks that disciplines be switched on in the areas ruled by Capricorn—in other words—dig in and work hard with your ethics firmly attached—Neptune is inviting Dionysus to the table for the next six months, also. This eclipse may kick off something new that you were not expecting—building a new structure into your material life. The Saturn-Moon connection symbolizes the power of an individual to come into form—the “I am” consciousness. Caused either intrinsically or by external factors, the changes are likely to touch on the places that you have been fearing to tread for some time since Saturn and Capricorn are involved. Building the world around you anew is not only possible, it is written in the stars. Now is the time to begin, and while planting seeds takes germination time, your patience and persistence will reap rewards. Have faith in your efforts. The areas that this eclipse touches are the family (Cancer) and society (Capricorn), so something major is shifting in the Cancer/Capricorn arena for us over the coming 18 months. Changes in form are ruled by Saturn. Saturn usually constricts something or takes something away.

January 6, 2019 Uranus turns direct at 28 degrees Aries: Uranus wants to know if we are listening to how we are to embody complete and total revolution. The Sabian Symbol for the point at which Uranus turns direct this year is a celestial choir singing. As Uranus finishes up its sweep through Aries, which has seen several awakenings to human rights issues, environmental concerns, information issues, and new technologies—in addition to yet-to-be-publicized-areas—we are moving into a stabilization / embodiment period for 7 years or so during the Uranus transit of Taurus. Before we focus on physical breath, there is one last gasp of fire and electricity moving through the dark night of the soul, looking for a place to ground itself. Electricity itself is neutral. In the hands of an expert, it can be harnessed to great purpose. In the hands of a fool, it is death and destruction. Uranus asks us to transcend our previous wisdom.

January 2-7 (exact January 6) Venus in Scorpio Trine Chiron in Pisces: The fruits of experience are in alignment with ailments, either past or present. You can learn more about what’s bothering you if you look deeply into it.

January 2-7 (exact January 6) Venus in Scorpio Quincunx Uranus in Aries: Adjustments need to be made based on what you are learning. You’ll gain from this even though it’s likely to be uncomfortable.

January 7 Venus moves into Sagittarius: Suddenly, things will seem larger than life. What was very emotional now will be able to be put into perspective. Now is the time to integrate the big experiences. If you are seeking wisdom, need to teach or learn, wish to sign up for a class or get mentorship, the time of Venus in Sagittarius is a good time to find guidance in relationships. People should be able to be honest, compassionate, sincere, and engage in abstract thought. Relationships, creative pursuits, and finances can expand in scope.

January 4-11 (exact January 8) Mercury in Capricorn square Mars in Aries. Mercury square Mars is generally a time of miscommunication. With Capricorn and Aries involved, Mercury shows up with lots of motivation and a list of to-do items humming in their head and Mars is at cross roads wanting to take Mercury in a ride in their brand new car. The Mars acceleration is pedal to the ground and the momentum can’t be throttled. Things will probably move despite plans otherwise.

January 7-15 (exact January 11) Sun in Capricorn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn: This is an extremely powerful aspect for bringing new form into being or transforming. Think of water changing from steam to liquid to snow or ice. The form of things changes based on the sun’s presence and the heat it brings, as that is the power of the sun. It rules and makes life happen. Pluto IS transformation in Astrology and Capricorn is earth and the life processes that occur on earth. Everything begins with the Sun and ends with Pluto, which is so far beyond our control we can barely fathom its workings. Once per year, these two meet up and we reflect on what it means to be human. This year, and for the next several, they meet in Capricorn. We are beginning to understand that Capricorn rules the life and death processes of nature, social relationships, structures, and governments (governments; alongside Jupiter). The Sun brings us this first life and lights our world. Pluto ultimately regenerates and brings us second life.

January 11-16 (exact January 13) Mercury in Capricorn conjunct Saturn in Capricorn: The mind meets the teacher. We have a chance to ask questions, to review, to see ourselves and our environment in an important manner. We look at form and structure deeply at this moment. Sometimes when Mercury and Saturn meet, there can be some sadness or depression to experience or watch for.

January 12-16 (exact January 14) Mercury in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces: You may feel the limitations dissolve either in spiritual connection or in dreams. Alternatively, you may experience a material hit such as a craving or addictive episode. Either can be seen as the doorway to a transcendent experience of the human relating to the divine.

January 14-19 (exact January 17) Sun in Capricorn Oppose North Node in Cancer: Life wants us to support the family. However, we are feeling powerless in our family structures. Or your family is feeling the hit of family rights being eroded. There are many challenges to supporting the family structure in the culture—barriers to the family being empowered. So, when the destiny of the North Node being in Cancer is opposed by the powers that be (Sun in Capricorn)—what is supposed to occur? A conflict exists. The wisdom of how business structures need to integrate with private structures—and how they can’t be falsely divided for any families—and how no families are disposable—we are all a larger family—is imperative. Individually, find a way to understand, view and empower vulnerable people around you to the best of your ability, in the spirit of viewing all people as your larger family.

January 16-20 (exact January 18) Sun in Capricorn square Uranus in Aries: Look for insight, and could be sudden, into how to empower your personal transformation. You may be able to come up with approaches that will work for you to build new things. You may see a lot of new government and business changes.

January 16-20 (exact January 18) Mercury in Capricorn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn: A powerful time of change activity when you’ll have the ability to enact changes that will last. Use your charisma and power for the highest purposes. Your thoughts may be somewhat obsessive, so try to keep calm and stay simple in your approaches to the best of your ability. No one is after you, for example, so don’t believe your thoughts—LOL! Alternatively, keep from compromising positions that are important to you merely to resolve a conflict quickly. Stop and wait for this transit to pass so you can do the analysis more clearly to make decisions if you can. If you have already done the analysis and are ready to act, it’s okay.

January 16-20 (exact January 18) Sun in Capricorn sextile Chiron in Pisces: You can use the favorable energy from this aspect to support you seeing into any fear or obsessive issues you may experience. Focus on your personal well-being.

January 7–27 (exact January 18) Venus in Sagittarius trine Mars in Aries. A good time for relationships when our outer projections are balanced with our inner wisdom. During this time, we may be able to see how we truly feel in relationships as we observe our honest impulses. Also, it’s possible you could meet a new love interest. People in close relation should be feeling kind. Also, new financial investments and creative projects are supported by this aspect.

January 20 Sun enters Aquarius: The power to express ideals in our behavior comes to the forefront. Creativity in our social behavior can be enjoyable during the time of Aquarius.

Full Moon in Leo 0 degrees 51 minutes, January 20 10:16 PM: This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is the time to release the things that have been troubling us for the past year to two years. (It’s a much better time to review the past than to try new things with a few Uranus aspects that can leave our nervous systems reactive. Let yourself use techniques of self-soothing and meditation to stay calm instead of impulsive. Stay away from impulse and anxiety that crops up.) It is the final eclipse in the Leo-Aquarius series and marks a turning point from a personal focus toward a family focus. Take some time to bless your personal journey and begin the next two-year cycle into a journey about living our values. You may have already felt during the past six months that the energies have shifted away from being able to focus on the self and shifted toward needing to show up outside oneself in ways unimaginable just a year or two ago. As the year begins, use this lunar eclipse to strengthen your self-care resolve and do some writing and listing on how you will order your days so that as a caregiver of the earth’s light, as an earth-angel, how you will make sure you stay healthy first and foremost. Otherwise, how will you have anything to give others? Be honest about your needs and limitations. The North Node in Leo gave us a chance to know ourselves. Let’s use that knowledge as we lean into the service that we are able to give, without fooling ourselves that we can give beyond our capabilities. We only need to do a little, each day, consistently, to have an impact. If everyone does a little within their capabilities, we will have a much better world and very quickly.

January 18-23 (exact January 21) Venus in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces: Relational challenges may emerge and know that they will pass. The issues may focus on self-esteem and self-image distortions such as body image, substance use and misuse issues, the ability to perceive others’ behaviors and intentions correctly, and trust (including self-trust). Work really hard to take the high road during this time and defer your judgments for a better time. Use the mantra, “don’t believe everything you think.”

January 16–27 (exact January 21) Mars in Aries square Saturn in Capricorn: This is the most classic form of Mars square Saturn that exists! Both are in their home signs and expressing themselves fully and directly. The square means there is tension where action is inhibited or limited. Saturn in Capricorn wants to succeed no matter the cost and be seen as an authority and Mars in Aries wants to move forward exuberantly but will be blocked. Try to get any forward movement done on projects outside of these days. Possible sources of frustration: authorities, male figures, teachers/bosses, your own internalized ambitions or passions.

January 18-26 (exact January 22) Venus in Sagittarius conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius: This most beneficial of conjunctions should help you to do more “nothing” during a difficult few weeks. It is a time when you can focus on your own ability to broaden your viewpoint. Read, reflect, get real. You can buy a new outfit, get a haircut, or take some actions to help you feel a little more confident in your relationships in some easy and straightforward manner. A mild splurge would be positive.

January 20-24 (exact January 22) Mercury in Capricorn oppose North Node in Cancer: Your mind might be telling you to put in some extra hours at the office, but your destiny is directing you toward your family.

January 24 Mercury enters Aquarius. During this period, we may reflect deeply or experientially or even scholastically on our group identities. How are we identifying in our cultural settings and, even more importantly, how are we feeling isolated because we are unable to connect culturally in the atmosphere around us? What harm is being done as we observe groups? This question is deeper than we imagine because people are psychically connected or disconnected based upon their inclusion or exclusion socially.

January 19–31 (exact January 25) Mars in Aries trine Jupiter in Sagittarius: This is a time for decisive actions (once Mars ends the square to Saturn). This is the aspect for the archetype of the victorious warrior. It’s a go on moving projects forward and making major progress in the arenas you have been waiting to make progress on for months. You may meet someone new and start a relationship. Your aura is magnetic and your instincts are spot-on. The end of January is bursting with fireworks.

January 24-February 4 (exact January 29/30) Sun in Aquarius conjunct Mercury in Aquarius. Not only is this a strong and amazing time for communication breakthroughs, but communication about and an investigation into human values and an experience of group consciousness.

January 28– (exact February 2) Mars in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn. As Saturn and Pluto near their conjunction, each planet will make aspects to one then the other. Mars first squared Saturn and now squares Pluto shortly after. Mars square Pluto is an explosive, powerful, and frustrating combination. Use the mantra “do no harm” during these days, and allow no harm to be done to you.

January 31-February 3 (exact February 3) Venus in Sagittarius square Chiron in Pisces. If anyone asks you to prove yourself, let it go and know you’re learning who to trust or not trust. True love and support doesn’t come with tests.

January 31-February 3 (exact February 2) Venus in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Aries. It’s possible to see a sudden influx in finances, meet someone interesting, or experience an electric creative energy in the air around you. Business as usual changes somehow.

February 3 Venus moves into the sign of Capricorn: A good time to start long-term relationships or financial ventures. Also, long-lasting creative projects are favored during the Capricorn time period. Capricorn asks you to pursue your long-term goals and get the job done rather than procrastinate any longer.

December 2018 Astrology Trends

Continuing influences…

November 1-December 2 (exact November 3 and November 28) Venus (Retrograde then Direct) quincunx Retrograde Chiron in Pisces. Venus probably wants a big party for Thanksgiving and a new dress or at least a new table cloth and to invite friends… because… Libra! Chiron is asking us to look at our original psychic wounds as far back as birth and past lives because… Pisces! Probably with a quincunx adjustment occurring, there will be deprivation issues to contend with, such as abandonment or monetary issues. Oh well, make it a jug band Thanksgiving! (Did you ever ready the children’s book, “Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas?”)

November 7–December 2 (exact December 1) Venus in Libra (Retrograde then Direct) oppose Retrograde Uranus in Aries. Along with Uranus’s move from Taurus into Aries, Venus is in opposition. Venus is ruled by Taurus and Libra, so this is poignant to be in a stressful opposition relationship to Uranus, the planet of upheaval. Venus is the planet of beauty, harmony, and peace. Uranus is a planet of radical change and is entering into one of the signs that has been known to symbolize war. It’s as if the two are in peace negotiations with one another. Venus is in her ascendency, however, so as she moves into direct motion and makes this aspect for the second time it appears she may be able to tame the weird and wild impulses caused by Uranus events. In general, the energy is one of impulse, initiative and spontaneity being balanced with harmony and social grace.

November 16–December 2 (exact December 1) Venus in Libra square North Node in Cancer. Rather than shopping therapy, why not have a good cry? Those emotions won’t look as good in the things you buy as they will feel if you get down to the root cause of what’s behind the pain. It’s probably something from the past or something someone said that’s triggered you and was painful.

November 21-December 2 (exact November 27) Mars in Pisces sextile Saturn in Capricorn. As a balm to the Mars in Pisces fatigue, here comes a beautiful aspect between Mars and Saturn to say: stick to your systems, friend! Stay on course with your routines of health, food plan, positive psychological practices, and spiritual supports so you can make it a good day each day! Saturn in Capricorn can be a big support to us during late November and December. This is also a time to observe limits in things such as finances and keep fantastic boundaries around our personal and emotional space. Saturn has taught us well the past few years.

November 24- December 12 (exact December 3) Sun in Sagittarius square Mars in Pisces. Also portends some fatigue. The Sun wants to move on to something new and Mars wants to finish up something old. Jupiter is also in the mix, along with Mercury retrograde, so Pisces mars is throwing a little bit of cold water on the Sagittarius fire and slowing things down. That’s okay; simply being aware that going slower is an option is half the battle! Since Sagittarius can miss so many details, it’s likely a blessing in disguise.

December Planetary Influences…

December 1 Retrograde Mercury enters Scorpio. Mercury intensifies communication, asking us to look underneath the surface, as it forms a GRAND WATER TRINE with the North Node and Uranus that all the personal planets will as they move through the final degrees of Scorpio. Mercury, however, is doing this repeatedly in this retrograde period. This means you can feel you have a “cooling off period” during Mercury retrograde when things flow easier, if you can tap into the higher-vibe grand water trine energy, and also it can mean you can feel a little suspicion or paranoia, if you are feeling the lower energies of Scorpio at play. Maybe a little of both will occur. When Mercury leaves Sagittarius to move back into he sign of Scorpio, any effects or consequences that seem out of proportion to the causes or mistakes that are associated with them should ease, however. This is the result of Mercury moving away from Sagittarius and from conjunction with Jupiter.

December 2 – Venus moves into Scorpio. Venus possibly goes on the prowl in Scorpio. Gosh, I guess we can explore our most powerful desires, and desires for empowerment. Venus in Scorpio heightens the intensity in relationships instead of the harmony. We may begin to look at how others use what they have got, and how we can become alchemists in the culture around us.

Grand water trine

December 1-13 (exact December 2 and December 11) Retrograde Mercury in Scorpio trine North Node in Cancer. Mercury stations and turns direct December 6. This trine lasts double the usual amount of time, as Mercury ends its retrograde, stops, and resumes its forward motion. The first half of December thus becomes a wonderful time to review and then begin to act in a deeply mindful and transformative way, based upon our best understanding of our life’s calling. This looks like it connects to past and present family, based upon the signs of Scorpio and Cancer being involved, and it looks to be acts of the heart, such as small or large kindnesses being extended. It’s possible to allow these two weeks to pass by with nothing occurring, so you need to take advantage of these positive aspects and utilize them consciously.

December 1-13 (exact December 4 and December 9) Retrograde Mercury trine Retrograde Chiron in Pisces. Chiron also stations and turns direct December 8. When you understand that forgiveness helps you more than it helps the one you feel harmed you, you’re going to be well on your way to integrating the things you need to for Chiron in Pisces and Mercury in Scorpio to feel they have bestowed their blessings upon you. Or you can let them pass through the heavens silently. They will patiently wait as long as you need for them to wait. It would be nice for you to listen and allow them to heal your heart this early December season. Or maybe you are the one who needs to be forgiven. Grace is available for all of us.

December 1-13 (exact December 2 and December 9) Retrograde Mercury quincunx Retrograde Uranus in Aries. This is a time when it may be difficult to find words or a way to communicate the inner fire or the higher thoughts that are coming through so quickly that they’re hard to organize coherently. There’s a lot of intuitive inspiration; it’s just hard to explain the depth of it all. It can feel like so many original ideas. Staying grounded can be an overwhelming feeling. It can feel like you don’t want to miss anything, too.

December 2-9 (exact December 5) Sun in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces. Now that Neptune is moving in a direct manner, a square aspect to the Sun can cause difficulty in self-expression and a tempering of our egos for a few days. If you feel out of sorts or a depressed system, try to rest and pick up dream messages to figure out what is going on.

December 2-14 (exact December 7) Mars in Pisces conjunct Neptune in Pisces. Pisces is Inspiration, art, spirituality, integration, the ending of something major, sleep and rest, and dreaming. Pisces is one of the receivers—so make sure to make time to rest and dream and feel free to be creative during these days. Letting go and not planning too much would probably be a good idea. Act by not acting, and a lot of Zen or Taoist principles might be put into play while Mars is in Pisces—and in conjunction with Pisces-ruled Neptune—add about 20 leagues to that. In its lower expression, Mars and Neptune in Pisces would have you battle or indulge in addictions, lose your mind, experience depression, or overcompensate with its polar opposite—Virgo themes (too much over work, service, control, and organization)! It’s let go and let God time.

New Moon December 7 in Sagittarius. The Sagittarius New Moon is generally a time when we feel the urge for an adventure, and with Jupiter also in Sagittarius, our urge to take off may be even greater. On the same day, Mercury is stopping to turn direct in Scorpio (while in trine to Chiron in Pisces), so our mind may be telling us that although our heart wishes to go afar, the better trip to take is deep within. In fact, with the Sun and Moon square to Mars and Neptune in Pisces, it appears that may be exactly the destination that is most preferred. The universal space within, the one consciousness, is accessible to us all at this time, even if there’s a little bit of a rough ride to get there. To achieve transcendence we may need to forgive, find a peaceful solitude, or take charge of our own energy in some way to expand our understanding of spiritual maturity. This New Moon can bring a catharsis.

December 8 Chiron turns direct at 27/28 degrees Pisces. Chiron retrograde shows us our wounds, and when it stations and turns direct it shows us how we will recover. Sometimes these wounds are physical; sometimes non-physical. The broken places that we have been limping around with may have opportunities to become whole again. 28 degrees Pisces is associated with the phalanges of left foot, so if there is something going on in the left side of your body, especially your foot—consult a doctor between now and February, 2020. These are times when those with Chiron returns can be made whole again (I am one of them and am planning for left hip replacement). The Sabian Symbol is: A fertile garden under the full moon. This is a particularly nice Sabian symbol. Thinking of the seeds we have planted, this means we’re growing our garden and it is being well-tended and managed. Nature is doing its job and we are meeting our responsibilities. All is well.

December 11-21 (exact December 16) Venus in Scorpio sextile Saturn in Capricorn. This transit is about true and serious love and partnerships. Long-term commitments are denoted, especially under the signs Scorpio and Capricorn. This is a time for commitments, successful marriages, meeting people who would make great business and marriage partners, practical and common-sense decisions, and investments of high quality.

December 12-23 (exact December 17) Mars in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn. In spite of yourself, you will likely be getting a lot done, built, determined during mid-December. The energy around you will carry you forward and you will avoid procrastinating as the world regulates you. People will likely be strongly attracted to you and you’ll feel intuitive and able to put the right pieces of the puzzle together. Trust your drive to get things done.

December 17- Venus moves out of Shadow area and past 10 degrees Scorpio. You can finally buy things! You can trust when you feel the impulse toward new relationships! The Venus retrograde is absolutely ended as Venus surges forth into new territory and into new waters. Erratic actions and relational dysregulation should ease and instead your instincts should return with Scorpio’s sense of deep understanding of those around them. We start to “get” each other better.

December 17-24 (exact December 21) Venus in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces. Here is another sign of harmonious relationships as the lower and higher octaves of love sing in tune. Venus is earthly relationships and Neptune is heavenly relationships, so for them to be in a trine, or favorable, aspect, means we can relax and enjoy an environment of easy interaction leading up to Christmas Eve.

December 16-22 (exact December 20) Sun in Sagittarius square Chiron in Pisces. Highlighted and activated are the issues of the tension within us caused by the things that have happened or are happening to us because people are missing details and sweeping things under the rug. Alternatively, we may be the one in denial of something or not seeing something of which we are unaware.

December 17-22 (exact December 20) Sun in Sagittarius Trine Uranus in Aries. This is a time when scientific breakthroughs can progress and when you may feel like trying something new. Follow the confidence you feel and enjoy new adventures and inventions.

December 18-24 (exact December 21) Mercury in Sagittarius conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius. Your ability to comprehend things expands and you can use this period of time to broaden or try on new perspectives or encounter some great teachers. It may feel like things are speeding up, intellectually speaking. Try to still attend to details if you can.

December 22 Sun Enters Capricorn. This is the time to set your intentions for the next year. What would you like to structure and build? What are your goals? Capricorn energy loves a project. With Saturn at home in Capricorn this year, it’s a great time to think of what wisdom you have gained in your life thus far and take stock of your values, priorities, and what matters to you. This is a good year for resolutions—not for the new year, but for the new you—overall.

Full Moon, December 22 10:49 am. December 22 is a Saturday, so this Full Moon would be the perfect opportunity for an early holiday ritual or celebration to honor the winter. Find a way to incorporate the Capricorn and Saturn themes of wisdom, teaching, building, earth-energy, and the Cancer themes of emotion, family, mother, water-energy and instinct. Snow might be an appropriate symbol to combine water and earth. A historical theme used to kick off planning for the future (vision boards for the family? Talking about what values are important to each person?) could be an interesting Full Moon or Saturday get-together. You can have olde-time pictures for people to choose from that represents concepts that are most important to them and have them place their picture on a collage that represents values. This can combine wisdom (Saturn) with family (Cancer). It’s a Full Moon ritual for an individual, chosen family, or biological family.

December 23-26 (exact December 24) Mercury in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces. Feeling like we are whole may be difficult when there is so much on our minds. Mercury in Sagittarius may stir up a lot of big desires to make grand gestures—suffice it to say—that is not likely in the cards. Try to keep an eye on the small things that make a difference, too.

December 25-31 (exact December 28) Venus in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn. Such depth of feeling and appreciation in the air is wonderful during a time of giving and receiving. Also adds a romantic energy to the world around us. Love and attachment.

December 24-31 (Exact December 28) Mars in Pisces trine North Node in Cancer. This is about understanding the desires of our dharma vs. the desires of our ego. The relationship may become clear to us now, and we can easily see our path forward and wrap up the year with some wisdom about how we fit into the family of things and what our soul’s development is asking of us prior to Mars moving into Aries.

December 23-31 (exact December 29) Mars in Pisces conjunct Chiron in Pisces. Where does it hurt? There’s a place we can’t move on from but this is Pisces—where something is ending in preparation for Mars moving into Aries. It likely feels right now like it will never end, but we’re in the frustrating part of the end of a cycle of Mars. At this point, there may be confusion or depression as Mars is conjunct Chiron. We also might be aware that something is painful. This works together with the North Node aspect to help us release and understand our past mistakes, ego trips, the things we identify with that we no longer need, and the things that are no longer things we need to be attached to. Some of our desires are ready to leave us. Instead of being at ware with our limitations, and feeling the exhaustion and emptiness of holding onto old ways of being… It’s friendlier to accept ourselves and move on.

December 28-6 (exact January 2, 2019) Sun in Capricorn conjunct Saturn in Capricorn. When the Sun meets Capricorn, there is a sense that things are very serious in the world. There can be a test of morality, readiness, integrity, and structural integrity (this can actually be your house and daily routines).

November 2018 Astrology Trends

Continuing influences…

October 23-31 T-Square in Fixed Signs at 0 degrees. Venus in Scorpio Opposing Uranus. Square to North Node in Leo.  This configuration is a conflagration of stressful aspects that will test your resolve prior to the North Node moving into Cancer. The questions destiny will be asking humans: what in your relationship history has empowered or disempowered you? What have you done with the resources you have been given to uplift others? What creative efforts have you put forth to manifest the ideas that have been given to you? How have you learned to be in the physical world gracefully? What does it truly mean to be a human being?

Individual Elements of T-Square:

August 13 to November 6 (nearly exact October 10 and October 30-November 6) Uranus in Taurus square the North Node in Leo. These are fixed signs, and part of larger aspect patterns (T-square and grand cross patterns). I wouldn’t be expecting people to budge, and you may be surprised by the stubbornness you see around you during these times. Some people may be fixated on being crowned King or Queen (the Leo influence)—and they may be willing to do very unexpected things to get there. On the higher path, it is time to embody values that are more sustainable and earth-centered. Spend this time spiritually connecting to the earth and loving the planet. This can manifest in many ways—and with Uranus in the mix, how can we pretend to predict? In the past, Uranus (ruling the nervous system of both humans and the planet) has brought earthquakes and seismic activity. In social structures, Uranus in Taurus brought global fascism to the forefront in 1935-1942. However, on a personal level, Taurus is about what you value. Through the year 2026, the foundation of how we relate to our values and the planet is changing. Tension is denoted by a square aspect. The North Node in Leo can bring all of us to our personal crisis and our personal catharsis around our own values and ethics. I wouldn’t spend time trying to directly get others to agree with you, however, as each person will need to make their own decisions. Taurus is about embodiment—not conversation. The best way to convince others during these coming years is to clearly embody your personal values instead of speaking them. A human being and doing will be stronger than a human blathering and lying. Also, Taurus can tell the truth by how they feel in their stomach or gut. They’re very physical creatures. So, pay attention to when you feel queasy or uneasy, and make sure to rest enough to be in touch with your body. Slow down if you can and use body signals to guide you—not intellect or emotions or even the heavens. According to the stars, get grounded to get strong.

October 24-November 3 (exact October 30-31) Retrograde Venus in Scorpio square North Node in Leo. This is an opportunity to see the tension between how the desire to create a future that meets the vision of one individual can fail to accommodate a deep dive into the needs of relationships and truly meet the standards of what would be needed in partnership with others. It’s an opportunity to review what is meaningful about true desire and leadership.

October 24- November 3 (exact October 30-31) Retrograde Venus in Scorpio oppose Uranus in Taurus. When you receive a call from your long-lost ex-lover who wants to be reminded that there was a reason you’re no longer together… When you receive a strange, out of the blue offer to buy your house… When you suddenly need to redecorate your third bedroom into a place to hold Japanese tea ceremonies even though you were raised Lutheran… When you suddenly wish to try neon purple on your hair and feel inspired to try a modeling career in South America even though you live in France… It could be Venus opposing Uranus. Use vision boards instead of acting on these impulses. Please. And curb the spending.

(–end of individual t-square aspects–)

October 31, Afternoon, Venus Retrograde changes signs to move back into Libra. Venus now focuses upon the humanitarian ideal in partnerships. Libra is an air sign and Venus is at home in Libra. Venus uses its time in Libra to create peace on earth and equal rights. Venus says that every human has value and each partner in a relationship has equity. This is the year to dress up as the Notorious RBG if there ever was one. October 30-November 3 (Exact October 31)

Mercury in Sagittarius trine North Node in Leo. The North Node is getting ready for a big change into Cancer, and this aspect is all about change. Here’s an opportunity to take one last look at yourself before the focus changes to caring for others. It will be a favorable look. Truly take a pause to appreciate and love yourself. You are so loveable!

October 19-November 8 (exact November 1, 12:43 PM MST) Jupiter in Scorpio trine Retrograde Chiron in Pisces. We can acknowledge our mysterious fears/phobias, addictions, and obsessions even when we don’t fully understand them. There’s a final opportunity prior to Jupiter entering its own sign in November for us to delve deeply into the things that have been buried in our unconscious and have been expressing themselves in our behavior and in our group consciousness. One possibility is your encountering ways that help you heal—people or resources. We can look to our histories—past lives, built cultures, childhoods—and see beneath the surface to the roots of our taboos, unconscious desires, and those things that have been swept under the rug for too long. As we examine the shadow parts of ourselves and our partners, what attracts or repulses us? What does that symbolize for us? And, if we are a phoenix, burning in the fire at this moment, what parts of us do we want rising from the ashes when we are remade?

November Planetary Influences…

November 1-9 (exact November 6) Sun in Scorpio trine Retrograde Neptune in Pisces. This is a transcendent time when our personality and our spirituality are in alignment. Use this time period of high intuition to connect heart and spirit along with any psychic impressions you receive. Receiving is the name of the game, and loving kindness should abound and be plentiful. Tap into it for your highest happiness.

November 7 New Moon in Scorpio. This is a positively busy (and positive!) New Moon! Uranus moves back into Aries the same day. The Sun and Moon are in trine to Neptune to offer a tremendous transcendent spiritual boost. They are also in sextile aspect to Pluto in Capricorn, providing the element of transformation and manifestation. Chiron and Jupiter are in trine aspect as well (the final day prior to Jupiter moving into Sagittarius), giving an increased potential for healing activities. This is an excellent new moon for healing and prayers and rituals. It’s highly recommended you plan something around the element of water or water medicine healing for your New Moon celebrations.

November 7 Retrograde Uranus moves back into Aries. It returns to Taurus for good on March 6, 2019 after turning direct on January 6, 2019. When Uranus returns to Aries for a few months, our zeitgeist returns to the cult of the individual for a little while. We may feel impulses toward personal expression, be turning toward our personal devices and technologies, experience identity crises, and feel our attention span to be shortened compared to the time we’ve spent in the first few degrees of Uranus in Taurus. Things may feel sped up in our nervous systems and in the social world surrounding us. Radical decisions and changes are possible within Aries again. When Uranus moves into Taurus for good in January, change becomes a slow-moving and effort-driven process. Within Aries, change is fast and can be something that feels like a fire has swept through the place.

November 7- 8 (exact November 8) Jupiter in Scorpio quincunx Retrograde Uranus in Aries. Jupiter is expanding and exploring the depths of our emotional life while Uranus sets up situations that disrupt the status quo. This may require us to process our reactions and make unexpected adjustments. Avoid friends who seem to encourage or influence your less-than-stellar behavior, especially, during this time period. What may these behaviors be? Addictions, over-indulgence, emotional dysregulation, negativity, gossip, bullying behaviors, and others.

November 7-8 Mars in Aquarius square Jupiter in Scorpio. Here’s a time where you might wish to dig in your heels and where the depth of emotions may seem endless. In a few days, your perspective may change and the fight-the-good-fight attitude that comes along with this aspect may drain. You may risk some physical and emotional exhaustion, so aim for some moderation. Physical exercise is a good outlet for processing your need to advocate as you consider your options.

November 8 Jupiter moves into Sagittarius. The Moon also conjuncts Jupiter as it moves signs, adding power to the shift. Jupiter moves into its home sign. Jupiter stays in a sign for 18 months to two years, so this is a significant shift. For this time, the following subjects will expand in our collective and group lives: adventure, philosophy, study, religions, and foreign cultures. Enthusiastic and inspirational teachers should emerge to broaden our cultural awareness and spiritual understanding. During the next two years, guard against recklessness, over-confidence and extravagance, but enjoy the confidence, generosity, and integrity.  The nice thing about the perspective of Sagittarius is that, while it is a broad perspective, it isn’t detached. It’s generally joyful while not being petty.

November 8-15 (exact November 9) Jupiter trine North Node in Leo. Benefits accrue now from a higher place, and your ability to express your strengths gets an enormous boost this month. That is, if you pay attention to yourself. The North Node, which in astrology rules our Dharma, is about to shift into Cancer (the sign of the family and which will bring out the Great Mother in all of us for a few years) so we have one last chance to focus on ourselves. Spend some time with our creative nature, on our hearts, which are like our inner hearths. Especially spend some time appreciating how much you have grown and how much courage you have embodied over the past year or year and a half. I bet you are really something! It is entirely appropriate to tell your stories if you haven’t already, or already started.

November 9-16 Mars in Aquarius square Jupiter in Sagittarius. The need to stand up for your beliefs remains, with Mars in Aquarius, and as Jupiter shifts to Sagittarius, your perspective may broaden to include a wider scope. It’s still a stress aspect, which can ultimately work in your favor as you work out a plan for how to proceed. The thing to watch for is to avoid impulse and to stay smart in your approaches. Choose your words and battles carefully.

November 10-23 Mercury in Sagittarius square Retrograde Neptune in Pisces.  Mercury (the mind) in Sagittarius wants to be honest and Neptune (the spirit) in Pisces may wish for a beautiful, transcendent world above all. This could set off some tension either internally or in relationships. Try not to deceive either yourself or anyone else. It just may be that communication is difficult to translate through these opposing wishes and both things are important. Take your time and keep the doors of communication open. Luckily, both Sagittarius and Pisces have an open mind! We will all get there.

November 8-14 (exact November 11) Sun in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn. What a great opportunity to illuminate the construction of our potential to fix something that is broken in our lives. From a bad habit or process to a material matter, use this time to make an improvement to yourself or your environment.

November 15 – Venus turns direct at 25 Degrees Libra. We start to move forward again in relationship and material matters. However, until December when Venus passes the post-retrograde shadow period it’s probably wise to hold of on purchases and fashion changes such as haircuts and makeovers. Relationship issues and impulses may still arise during this time frame. The inner ego may need balancing, so keep to a steady and humble attitude.

November 15, about 6 PM North Node moves into sign of Cancer. With the North Node moving into Cancer for the next 18 months or so, the focus of our collective Dharma is changing into the Divine Feminine. The North and South Nodes travel in unison across the zodiac wheel from one another, so while the North Node (Dharma) is in Cancer, the South Node (Karma) will be in Capricorn. We will Shift from the Leo/Aquarius sense that we need to express ourselves and create a drama based upon humanitarian and revolutionary themes to a very different sense.

The past is denoted by earth-sign Capricornian themes—government or nation, structures and systems, working hard, material wealth on a national level, scaffolding, building, construction, perfection, and ambition. The future is denoted by water-sign Cancer—the mother, the family, domestic life, nurturing, emotion, fertility, sensitivity, security, the subconscious, change, intuition, instinct, and giving. A lot of the challenge will be to stop making things harder than they have to be. “Let it be,” can become a great mantra for us during this transit of the North Node in Cancer as we trust the moment by moment process instead of planning industriously. Because we can be humble enough to see that we can tolerate failure and express our emotions honestly. This time is not for opportunists and martyrs and isolationists. Control issues will likely get drowned out as we find we are not entitled to the things we thought we were (November 15-January 31, 2019 (exact on December 23, 2018 from 1 PM MST to 7 PM MST) North Node in Cancer Trine Retrograde then Direct (Chiron stations and then turns direct on December 8) Chiron in Pisces). Try to view everyone as your larger family in order to find comfort. A sense of humor will help, too.

November 15, 3:41 PM MST Mars at 00 00 Pisces Quincunx North Node at 00 00 Leo. The North Node is in Trine aspect to Jupiter (1-degree Sagittarius). The Moon in Aquarius is trine Venus in Libra while Venus is opposing Uranus in Aries at the same time, with a very loose square to Pluto in Capricorn.

November 16 Mars moves into Pisces. When Mars travels through Pisces, our drives change to focus on a spiritual path forward. Our emotions feel like they emerge from our subconscious. We feel our way intuitively. We may experience life from a victim stand point if we’re not careful. When we’re threatened, it’s important to develop strength to deal with people and situations during the Pisces Mars transit.

Mercury stations and turns retrograde November 17-18 at 13 degrees Sagittarius. When Mercury stops (or stations) and turns retrograde, it does so at almost an exact square to the Neptune/Moon conjunction on November 17. This strengthens the stressful mental/spiritual/emotional tensions in the air. While you may wish to enter a debate, it’s recommended you bide your time.

Grand Trine in Water November 22 (at time of full moon—with Venus oppose Uranus T square to North Node also and Sun stellum, is conjunct Jupiter and Mercury).  This Thanksgiving (if you’re in the U.S.) is chock full of aspects that say family issues will be magnified for us all, for better or worse. It’s a great month to prepare for the gathering with a big dose of meditation and loving kindness to all.  Let’s get our hearts in the right place and space to be truly welcoming and accommodating to those whom we love and cherish. Let’s help and include those who have been abandoned by those who should be wrapping them up in their arms. Let’s treat the whole community as family, in other words, and we will have a great time. And let’s remember to make it an economical holiday if we are in the U.S.

November 17-22 (exact November 20) Sun in Scorpio trine Retrograde Chiron in Pisces. Here is the chance for you to face your healing with the Pisces themes for one of the last times. Soon, Chiron will be in Aries and it will be healing-through-action. There will not be time to contemplate and feel the vastness of what is ending in your life. Take this time to soak in what is coming to a close, because life will really not be the same again. Some of the deepest pains are existential and universal.

November 17-22 (exact November 20) Sun in Scorpio trine North Node in Cancer. As we begin to understand our personal Dharma through the North Node’s traversal of Cancer, the Sun begins a series of Grand Water Trine aspects with Chiron in Pisces that have us reviewing our place in the larger “family” of things, as well. From systems to our personal families, how are we treating one another? A deep dive and research can be done with the Sun in Scorpio.

November 16-26 (exact November 20) Mars in Aquarius/Pisces square Jupiter in Sagittarius. Stubborn Mars in Aquarius may keep trying to fight the good human rights fight while Jupiter in Sagittarius has already left the building to fly to the Netherlands to observe their healthcare system. Once Mars enters Pisces, Mars may leave the building, too, to get sloshed before seeing all the relatives at Thanksgiving dinner. The problem is, they’re going to have a fender bender in the parking lot before either of them gets anywhere.

November 22 Sun enters Sagittarius at about 2 AM MST. Looking at the big picture is the shift that takes place when we move from Scorpio to Sagittarius. Instead of the detective we meet the explorer. However, sometimes when we take that wide, optimistic view point we can miss the small details. Sagittarius is able to tame their fire—to use discretion and wisdom to inspire the world around them—because they can find the “true north” for themselves and others. They are focused beyond only themselves and able to nurture hope and faith. It’s an expansive energy. Bring your compass.

Gemini Full Moon, November 22 10:39 pm – Whoa! U.S. Thanksgiving falls on a Gemini Full Moon this year—a New Moon that welcomes close travel, talking and communicating.  The Sun will be in conjunction with Jupiter, providing a sense of giving and well-being. Mercury is in loose conjunction with them in Sagittarius as well, so most of us will be in the mood for talking. A variety of perspectives should be welcome and stimulating for all. Mars is in square aspect in Pisces, so just look out for over-indulging in whatever you are famous for over-indulging in! Mars is also sextile to Saturn in Capricorn—so if you have a plan, and you stick to the plan, you will be fine. Alcoholics—stay away from the bar. Overeaters—stick to your portion like a hawk. Venus is opposite Uranus and square to the North Node, loosely. I’m not sure who may show up unexpectedly, so as long as you keep that open mind open, it should remain fun. (See below for more details on some of these aspects.)

November 24, 2018 Neptune turns direct at 13 degrees Pisces. Neptune turns direct after being retrograde since the Spring and now we can resume our mediation and our dream journals. Our sleep may improve. The years of Neptune in its home sign of Pisces are great for integrating spiritual practices into our lives. Let’s continue.

November 22-29 (exact November 25) Sun conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius. This is such a great time to expand something positive in our lives. Maybe an exercise program or a new business venture. Some sort of positive habit. It’s possible to magnify a shadow aspect of oneself—let’s avoid that! Something gets bigger and better about us during this time—let’s consciously attend to what that something shall be, shall we?

November 24-28 (exact November 26) Retrograde Mercury in Sagittarius square Mars in Pisces. Mercury wants to take some leaps and is feeling overly-optimistic while Mars may lead you into trouble and over-indulgence or escapism due to acting from an emotional place. Conversely, Mars may cause tension due to pessimism. So, you may find yourself exhausted.

November 25-30 (exact November 27) Retrograde Mercury conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius. A great time for learning and studying, especially picking up a subject again that you had previously put down. You can re-write or edit something. Mercury retrograde is a time to return to something that needs to be gone over again as opposed to starting something new.

November 25-28 (exact November 27) Retrograde Mercury conjunct Sun in Sagittarius. This is a fun and combustible fire energy! Enjoy the mind and the heart traveling together through the terrain of wit and charm in freedom loving, social, androgynous, possible guru-level Sagittarius.

October 2018 Astrology Trends

Continuing influences…

September 30 Pluto turns direct at 18 degrees Capricorn. Capricorn is the sign of governmental systems. Pluto turning direct asks us to look at many issues—power (and by extension—control, regulation, manipulation), research (investigation, hidden things, undercover), and most assuredly transformation.

How we conceive of ourselves is interesting. We think of ourselves as individuals, and in Chinese terminology, this is a “yang” conceptualization. However, any complex entity, such as a human being, is a system that has a unique collection of collective elements. So, an individual exteriorizes elements of his individual selfhood that may already be shared by others, or may be registered by the minds of other individuals who could assimilate the elements. These then become common property of all people. They are added to the collective knowledge and collective experience of a culture and a civilization. Civilization is a process of the collective integration of the emanations of individuals. When is it within the collective, this is a “yin” conceptualization. Collective integration is the process by which energy, characteristics, and faculties of individuals become the properties of groups.

In every person, the individual and the collective is occurring at all points in time. The process could be occurring in the body, the psyche, the spirit, and the social realm. The substance of the process can be in every dimension of being. The collective has formed who we are from what we have come to call the cells in our bodies to the ideas and language we use and understand. The substratum within which we are grown is the collective; the particular bloom we are becoming is our individual.

Therefore, Pluto’s energies allow us to see how the systems around us operate and how we both participate and are affected by them—should we allow ourselves to acknowledge that there are things larger than the individual at play. Pluto confronts us with the collective parts of living that are beyond our control but which we would love to control if we were able.

With stress aspects (square and sometimes the opposition), our control is, well, stressed or nonexistent. With benevolent aspects (sextile and trine—sometimes the conjunction), our control is enhanced and we often get to play the angel. When Pluto moves into retrograde (5 months of the year, generally), we often are able to be more introspective and internal. It is actually a period when we can focus on turning around our destructive tendencies. When Pluto turns direct, the focus shifts to others in the outside world—the collective. The time of reflection ends and the time of interacting with others outside of us begins.

Saturn in Capricorn trine Uranus in Taurus. July 9-October 12, Retrograde/Direct Saturn in Capricorn trine Direct/Retrograde Uranus in Taurus (closest September 6). Uranus turns Retrograde August 9 (through January 6, 2019). Saturn is in a dance with Uranus and Chiron starting in July and moving through the months of September and October. This can portend an upgrade and/or major change to your value system(s), with Uranus in Taurus bringing in change to Saturn in Capricorn’s holding space for the systems and teachings that have gone before. In general, take advantage of adjustments to relationships and finances during these months. Changes that occur out of the blue are for your benefit.

August 1 to October 19 (exact September 23-24) Saturn in Capricorn quincunx the North Node in Leo. Adjustments to expressing the self—based on a sense of responsibility to the world. You’re developing strength at this time, as you refine your ability to be a presence and to work in the world. While you are embodying your inner leader, you may feel the world is holding you back or you are not enough somehow. Rest assured, you’ll overcome this when you put in the work and effort. This is a GREAT time for hard work and effort! It would be in alignment with planetary energies. In fact, I would be hard pressed to find any of us who will not be putting out serious energy toward self-improvement, toward our goals/ambitions or toward building our skills for into a higher level.

September 23-October 3 (exact September 26-28): Sun in Libra trine Mars in Aquarius. You can both start and finish projects (and joint projects) with this influence. Mars in Aquarius provides a wonderful influence with its fixed-sign abilities to help you finish things, and the Sun in Libra allows for harmonious team work. This is also a wonderful aspect for date night and passionate romance. Your instincts should be on the money in all matters.

October Planetary Influences…

October 1 to October 4 (exact October 2) Mercury in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn. This aspect portends a time when verbal communication can become heated or else manipulative. Sometimes Mercury can use the grace bestowed by the sign of Libra to distort the power drives of Pluto under a stress aspect such as this. Instead of shadow expressions, use this time to listen closely and think before you say anything. Perhaps you can uncover information about some of your own unconscious state of being.

October 5 Venus Retrograde in Scorpio at 10 degrees. You’re probably already reflecting about your finances and partners. The Venus retrograde period lasts until December 18, when Venus bypasses 10 degrees Scorpio again to move forward on the wheel of the zodiac. Until then, Venus retrograde is going to ask us to review and look at what drives us and regenerates us, especially in regard to how we are in relationships. Then, when Venus moves back into Libra, partnerships of all types will be scrutinized. We will be ensconced in an energy that will ask us to look at how we operate and how that links into the wholeness of being on earth.

October 5-15 (exact October 10) Retrograde Venus in Scorpio square Mars in Aquarius. It’s possible your passionate overtures will hit a wall. If so, chalk it up to Venus retrograde and move on. It’s temporary. Focus instead on steady progress, maybe of a more intellectual nature. It’s also possible that the blockage is circumstantial / environmental and not personal at all.

October 5 to October 10 (exact October 7) Sun in Libra Quincunx Neptune in Pisces. Adjustments to group influences on our individual growth.

New Moon in Libra, October 8 The New Moon in Libra is a chance to use the Libran symbol of the scales to set the focus to balance out the harmony in your life.  With the Sun and Moon in square aspect to Pluto, both luminaries are asking us to use the Pluto in Capricorn energy to shed light on our integrity and build forms within the synchronies and macrocosms within which we sing in concert.

October 8 to October 14 (exact October 11) Sun in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn. Energy is now shed by the Sun on how we are aligned with the new ideals and new social order being manifested (Pluto in Capricorn). Our personalities and destinies become slowly eroded and formed by the events–both graces and traumas—of the larger groups we inhabit, and aspects such as this one can be the catalysts for such personal and group formations if we observe from a more spacious vantage point. One of the possibilities in our lives is the allowing of ourselves to be changed in miniscule and macroscopic ways over time.

October 10 Mercury enters the sign of Scorpio. During the time of Mercury in Scorpio, you may generate new thoughts like the ocean generates new species of life from its depths. There’s something deep and mysterious and significant brewing in our minds during Mercury’s transit of Scorpio. It’s also mental formations via our emotions.

October 10-11 Mercury in Scorpio oppose Uranus in Taurus. Mercury/Uranus immediately seeks to integrate our lower mind with our higher mind as it engages straight on with Uranus. This can either drive us to brilliance or some temporary psychosis.

October 10-11 Mercury in Scorpio square North Node in Leo. Mercury stirs up tension with the North Node for a few days during its movement, which means our destiny is touched by the planet that covers the things we say, write, send, our brothers and sisters, and our intellectual circulation in general.

October 10-14 (exact October 12) Mercury in Scorpio sextile Saturn in Capricorn. As Mercury enters Scorpio the first few days, we can use the energy from this beneficial aspect to stabilize ourselves. Saturn provides the integrity to our words and deeds if we remain honest, open, and slow down when flashes and impulses try to steer us off track. It appears our best course of action is to stick with the plan.

October 13-17 (exact October 12) Mercury in Scorpio conjunct Retrograde Venus in Scorpio. When Mercury and Venus meet, you may feel a deeper compassion, your values may be easily communicated, and you may get a sense that you can experience and convey the beauty of the mysteries of life.

October 16-23 (exact October 19) Mercury in Scorpio square Mars in Aquarius. Drive safely and work on self-regulation during these days. It might be frustrating to watch how unfair the world is and you might want to write out your feelings if you feel that way.

October 21 Sun in Libra quincunx Chiron in Pisces. During this time, it’s possible to feel the pain of the collective unconscious. Also, personal pain can be exacerbated. If you are a healer, take some extra steps toward immunity if you like. Bathe in light, water, sage, or in general… stay well. Pass on healing vibes to others if possible, on an energetic level.

October 19-24 (exact October 22) Mercury in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn. This is a good time to get into the deepest of subjects—whether that be psychologically, physiologically, spiritually, or socially. With both Scorpio and Pluto involved in this aspect, here is your chance to solve some puzzles that are mysterious and powerful. Whatever you’re interested in, please dive in! Research and uncover some truths.

October 19-28 (exact October 24) Retrograde Venus in Scorpio sextile Saturn in Capricorn. This is a true love aspect, even though Venus is retrograde. Saturn is at home in Capricorn and any connections made now are strong and serious. This is an aspect that signifies the need for long-term commitment. Love and value those around you to take advantage of the energy of Venus/Saturn. It’s also good for business investments and commitments.

October 23 Sun enters Scorpio. Scorpio is the sign of the scorpion / eagle / Phoenix-Dove. At various stages of maturity, a Scorpio energy could be self-destructive and sting like a scorpion. Next, Scorpio energy could show up like the Eagle, with a self-awareness that uses intellect (but still swoops down on prey from the sky). Also, a Scorpio energy can be found when the transformation of a phoenix has occurred (when Scorpio has allowed themselves to die to who they were and be reborn) and a dove of peace has emerged. Only Scorpio has this power to turn venom into peace. And Scorpio transformation has the potential to occur faster than any other sign. See where this cycle’s energy occurs in your environment during the time of Sun in Scorpio.

Full Moon in Taurus 1 degree, October 24 10:45 am. The Sun is conjunct Retrograde Venus and the Moon is conjunct Uranus, giving a lot of focus to the Scorpio/Taurus polarity (opposite zodiac signs). Both are fixed signs based in strong desire energies. The Moon/Uranus trine Saturn in Capricorn. The Sun/Venus sextile Saturn in Capricorn.

The Taurus energy is driven toward stability and resources. The Scorpio energy is driven toward understanding and creative union. Both are patient, deep, yin, and receptive. Taurus shapes the world while Scorpio shape shifts within the world.

October 23-31 T-Square in Fixed Signs at 0 degrees. Sun and Venus in Scorpio Opposing Uranus (and Moon and Full Moon on October 24). Both configurations square to North Node in Leo.

October 24 to October 29 (exact October 25) Sun in Scorpio conjunct Venus Retrograde in Scorpio. This aspect only happens once a year, and generally it shines a light on love, peace, and sociability. This year, Venus is retrograde and in the sign of Scorpio, and both the Sun and Venus are square to the North Node and opposing Uranus, although sextile to Saturn. It portends a more serious year based upon how ethical and disciplined an individual has become. If you have passed Saturn’s tests in your life; fine. Have fun. If you’re integrity can be compromised—look out. The sun can burn as well as brighten.

October 23 to October 27 (exact October 24) Sun in Scorpio square North Node in Leo. This solar aspect work in conjunction with Venus to review how our individuation works in concert with our ability to value others. The world will reflect back to us how well we’re doing in our evolution during these days. Try to pay attention.

When you receive a call from your long lost ex-lover who wants to be reminded that there was a reason you’re no longer together… When you receive a strange, out of the blue offer to buy your house… When you suddenly need to redecorate your third bedroom into a place to hold Japanese tea ceremonies even though you were raised Lutheran… When you suddenly wish to try neon purple on your hair and feel inspired to try a modeling career in South America even though you live in France… It could be Venus opposing Uranus. Use vision boards instead of acting on these impulses. Please. And curb the spending.

October 24-28 (exact October 26) Retrograde Venus in Scorpio conjunct Sun in Scorpio. Emotions are running high around attraction, (sexual attraction with Scorpio!), money, creativity, and romance. You can burn a little brightly so don’t overdo it with Venus retrograde, but in general, this is an extremely favorable aspect for relationships of all sorts—including romantic ones. Love and affection rule the day.

October 23 to October 26 (exact October 23) Sun in Scorpio Oppose Uranus in Taurus. Genius or madness is highlighted. There may be restless, anxious energy. There also may be an air that there are intuitive insights available like apples on a ripe apple tree—right there for the picking. Try to express your ideas so they don’t come out via accident prone behaviors.

(–end of individual t-square aspects–)

October 24 to October 31 (exact October 27) Sun in Scorpio sextile Saturn in Capricorn. You may be surprised that you have lots of energy and will to power through projects during the days just prior to the end of October.

October 26-30 (exact October 28) Mercury in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces. You might find yourself shifting your thoughts in a positive manner about an emotional situation or a spiritual path. This may be the result of information acquired from a wise elder or a resource that comes to you in a dream, a book, through a communication, or from spirit. Spend time near the water if possible.

October 26-30 (exact October 28) Mercury in Scorpio conjunct Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits cause the ego to have expansive and compensatory types of soul release. In Scorpio, and with Mercury, this can be truly magical. Use this time to be near the water if you can. Focus on what is real about your being. Use your mind to connect to your deepest experience of humanity and think about what will expand your life for the next phase.

October 30 Mercury moves into Sagittarius at about 11 PM MDT. The big picture. Freedom. Defending Justice. Mercury in Sagittarius will help us have the expansive, optimistic vision. Just ignore the little holes you see in the tires where the air is leaking out. You may see lots of fun and positivity during this time frame. Also, watch out for moralizing and preaching. It’s easy to get dogmatic when your mind is on Sagittarius time.

October 30-November 3 (Exact October 31) Mercury in Sagittarius trine North Node in Leo. The North Node is getting ready for a big change into Cancer, and this aspect is all about change. Here’s an opportunity to take one last look at your self before the focus changes to caring for others. It will be a favorable look. Truly take a pause to appreciate and love yourself. You are so loveable!

September 2018 Astrology Trends

Continuing influences…

Saturn in Capricorn square Chiron in Aries. July 9-September 26, Retrograde/Direct Saturn in Capricorn square Retrograde Chiron in Aries. Chiron in Aries throws either inspiration or upset into the mix depending on its higher octave or lower octave expression. You will realize there is no more hiding from your sensitivities and wounds. I truly hope you’re dealing with old issues or have dealt with them. If not, now is the perfect time for therapy and support. I implore you to avail yourself, as all people will likely find themselves activated by this overarching aspect in cardinal signs. We healers, earth-angels, and light-bearers need to know ourselves and understand our worth and beauty in the face of messages from the world that may tell us otherwise. We can lead, be and become the causes for wellness in the world.

August 20-September 6 (exact September 2-3) Mercury in Leo sextile Venus in Libra. People will be happy to express their love and affection. Schedule some down time with your significant other, or some bonding time with friends and loved ones. Time with children is especially favored with Leo energetically highlighted.

August 1 to September 10 Jupiter in Scorpio trine Retrograde Neptune in Pisces (exact trine was May 25th) and getting closer as Jupiter moves direct to exactly trine Neptune again on August 19 for the final time. This aspect during 2017-2018 is encouraging humanitarianism. Generosity of spirit, truth-telling, and hope are expanding. This is a long-term influence over large numbers of people. It is spiritual in its influence, as well. Destiny is calling us all forth, asking that we investigate and deepen our understanding of what it means to be human in as many dimensions as we are able, as individuals and together.

August 23 to September 25 (exact September 11-12). Jupiter moves into sextile aspect with Pluto this month (to be even stronger during September). This is one of the major aspects of 2018, with September being its last exact occurrence. It also occurred January 15 and April 14. It portends changes in philosophy, religion, education, politics, and music. Something that is significant to society is changing in a natural progression that is spurred on by the powers that be. Sometimes people are actors in this change, such as you personally getting promoted and career advancement. Sometimes it is spiritual and personal growth. There are powerful influences behind the scenes making changes happen. Reform is on the agenda. Something in your life will coincide with the flow so you can rise to meet the opportunity if you like. Charismatic leaders are likely to emerge and to transform the direction of groups that have to do with businesses, institutions, and systems.

August 13 to September 25 (never exact) North Node in Leo trine Chiron in Aries. If you pay attention, you can gain a lot of strength by looking at how your sense of self has been violated. How does this keep you from asserting yourself? How are you over-compensating because your sense of self is not strong enough? E.g., do you feel you need to be first at things, or do you operate as if there needs to be a winner and a loser (in which case generally everyone loses!)? Work on pioneering new ways to conceive of your identity during this period, new ways to express yourself, and even new ways of exerting and exercising. Watch for head wounds.

August 1 to October 19 (exact September 23-24) Saturn in Capricorn quincunx the North Node in Leo. Adjustments to expressing the self, based on a sense of responsibility to the world. You’re developing strength at this time, as you refine your ability to be a presence and work in the world. While you are embodying your inner leader, you may feel the world is holding you back or you are not enough somehow. Rest assured, you’ll overcome this when you put in the work and effort. This is a GREAT time for hard work and effort! It would be in alignment with planetary energies. In fact, I would be hard pressed to find any of us who will not be putting out serious energy toward self-improvement toward our goals/ambitions or molding our self into a higher level of skill.

The best way to convince others during these coming years is to clearly embody your personal values instead of speak them. A human being and doing will be stronger than a human blathering and lying. Also, Taurus can tell the truth by how they feel in their stomach or gut. They’re very physical creatures. So pay attention to when you feel queasy or uneasy, and make sure to rest enough to be in touch with your body. Slow down if you can, and use body signals to guide you—not intellect or emotions or even the heavens. According to the stars, get grounded to get strong.

September Planetary Influences…

September 5 Mercury moves into Virgo. Virgo is one of the home placements of Mercury, so this is a great month for intellectual progress and work on our projects. If we wish to change our daily routines or improve our lives in some way, there’s no better time than the beginning of September to start. Mercury in Virgo provides a clear mindset.

September 5 Saturn turns direct at 2 and a half degrees Capricorn. Your words and thoughts will hold great power at the time Saturn turns direct. Make sure to use care and imagine positive things. Use your actions to make positive karma. Plan to do nice things for people and align your intentions with the “Lord of Karma,” as Saturn is called. Also, the teacher and test-giver. Saturn direct means there is the chance to shake us out of any depression or rut we have been in for the past four months or so—since April. Use your focus and motivation to enter the next phase, as you embody what you have learned over the Spring and Summer. There is a grand earth trine to accompany the forward movement of Saturn, which should embody a pleasant surprise for us all.

Grand earth trine:

September 6-9 (exact September 7) Mercury in Virgo trine Uranus in Taurus. Your brilliance (and everyone else’s) is showing. You can have sudden insights that will work well along with the clarity to implement ideas. Inventions come to life. Studies support original solutions to problems. Change occurs suddenly. Negative thought patterns can be replaced with positive ones. Life is filled with vivid possibilities. Take advantage of these days and make use of the energy available.

September 6-9 (exact September 7) Mercury in Virgo trine Saturn in Capricorn. When the Saturn retrograde began, Mercury was in a square aspect to Saturn, which is the most stressful relationship. Now, it is in the most harmonious—which is a trine relationship. You can concentrate, will make few errors, and can think positively, engage in serious communication, and yield practical results when you put in effort. If you want to invest in real estate, it’s a great time to sign contracts.

September 6-October 12 Direct Saturn in Capricorn trine Uranus in Taurus. This is a time of change and transition. The change will be pleasing to you now and not as upsetting as it was while Saturn was retrograde. Self-expression and planning are both favored. If you use conscious effort, the amount of potential to manifest positive changes to your life is enormous during the first part of September.

September 4-11 (exact September 7): Sun in Virgo oppose Neptune in Pisces. One of the motivations for the changes you may want to make with the earth grand trine above will be events around the Sun-Neptune opposition which occurs at the same time. This can leave us insecure and discouraged because it causes confusing events to occur. Our egos may be bruised, or people may lie to us or deceive us. Life’s harsh realities can come to the forefront to confront us. Tricksters and charlatans will be out enforce and our defenses may be down. We may want to retreat. Avoid escapism and delay starting things about which you’re unclear. Make sure your integrity is beyond reproach. Any lies will dig you an even deeper hole.

September 3-9 (exact September 8) Venus in Libra square Mars in Capricorn. Female and male energies are in a stress aspect at this time, also. It’s a better time for working than for romance. Venus in Libra and Mars in Capricorn stress can set up a situation where perfectionism is an issue. Also, the feminine energy can become very aloof.

September 9 Uranus turns retrograde in Taurus. Changes that occur now will be internal rather than external. Your attitude and behaviors will change in preparation for the changes that will occur in the environment in about 6 months to accompany your growth as an individual. This will provide more personal freedom, ultimately.

New Moon, September 9 in Virgo

Venus moves into Scorpio September 9. Intensity and depth will mark relationships while Venus traverses the sign of Scorpio. Scorpio is the detective. Scorpio wants a soul mate—not a play mate. People will be sharing on the deepest possible levels. You will be creating from the depths, as well, and willing to travel into the darkness and into emptiness in order to find meaning for artistic expression. Scorpio is interested in power, and financial power issues or financial need issues may become a concern, also. Speaking truth to power is not out of the realm of possibility with Venus in Scorpio.

September 9-15 (exact September 9-10) Venus in Scorpio quincunx Chiron in Aries. This takes a look at where people have been wounded in relationships at some of the deepest levels of being.

September 11 Mars moves forward from Capricorn into Aquarius again. Methodical activities will be replaced with unpredictable actions. People will be focused on fighting for just causes and a more detached motivation will pervade the air. Aquarius is a fixed air sign, so a more intellectual approach can be noticed.

September 11-25 (exact September 11) Mars in Aquarius sextile Retrograde Chiron in Aries. Identity will be the focus of the behavior and action of people. Either healing or hurting our identity and ability to “be” will be occurring during September. This will be either liberating for you or frightening and disorienting. You may be involved in raising awareness, educating, learning.

September 8-14 (exact September 11): Sun in Virgo trine Pluto in Capricorn. This week brings us down to earth. We’re likely to feel we can embody our daily routines and find a healthy flow with the systems to which we’re connected. We can likely understand our place on the planet.

September 8-15 (exact September 11): Sun in Virgo sextile Jupiter in Scorpio. Our ability and desire to delve into the mysteries of life expands during these days. We may find ourselves joyfully returning to a solitary place.

September 9-18 (exact September 12-13) Venus in Scorpio sextile Saturn in Capricorn. This timing is excellent for both relationships and business. Commitments made now that are long-term can flourish (such as marriage). It’s also a favorable time for a makeover, renovation, new relationships, making social contacts, getting or starting a new job, and interacting with any sort of authority or older person (or younger person if you’re an older person such as myself!).

September 12-15 (exact September 13) Mercury in Virgo oppose Neptune in Pisces. Discernment is called for during these days. Discernment is found in the tightrope where you are not too analytical and not too informal. Overly-analytical thinking and acting can cause you to grasp too tightly and then what you’re holding onto will slip out of the side of your fist. Informality that’s too loose will cause an excess of confusion that means you’ll lose what you desire as well. Can you find balance?

September 11-20, Fixed Grand Cross, signifying a time where events are likely to present as one crisis after another where each one demands your attention, and every time you think you have one of the problems resolved, another aspect of the configuration will present a new problem. Or, all sides have a resoluteness of purpose and are unlikely to budge. Lots of astrological elements are involved with this grand cross pattern right after the Full Moon in Mid-September. Venus in Scorpio opposes Uranus while Mars in Aquarius Opposes the North Node in Leo. After September 20, Venus moves on and a T-Square with Mars remains in effect until October 1. When a grand cross turn into a T-square it’s as if one of the legs of a table has been removed and the table is much less stable. The missing planet (Venus in this case) becomes a missing element that is felt fiercely as you try to balance out the challenges through the end of September. When you go to tackle a challenge, just silently close your eyes, breathe, and bring Scorpio Venusian energies back into the mix, and you will probably feel more supported. (Venus, in fact, is moving into its retrograde period in October. This happens only every other year. See the chart at the end of this newsletter section to get a sense of how Venus’s activity in September and October, the pre-retrograde and retrograde periods while Venus retrograde is in the sign of Scorpio, are the busiest times of this Venus retrograde cycle. Venus is asking us to slow down and review our values, relationships, and our value within relationships. Because Scorpio is about other people, I believe questions about the value of other people may arise. As Venus traverses Libra, the issue of human rights from an intellectual rather than merely emotional perspective arises.)

Here are some of the individual elements to ponder:

September 11-16 Venus in Scorpio square Mars in Aquarius. Venus wants intensity and Mars wants ideas. Mars wants to talk, and Venus wants to get closer and closer. Mars wants to breathe, and Venus wants to take your breath away! The tension may be there and resolving it could be fun if you dip underwater for a few seconds and then come up for air.

September 9-18 (exact September 12-13) Venus in Scorpio oppose Uranus in Taurus. The world flips via Uranus. It flips using Venus in the arena of your relationships or your finances (or perhaps your creativity). Things are turning upside down so that we learn about our values and likely in terms of an earthquake. An earthquake that begins this year and continues into the mid-2020s.

September 9-20 (exact September 14-15) Venus in Scorpio square North Node in Leo. This time may be marked by a bottomless desire for affection and attention. On the brighter side, you could find an uncommon set of graceful and pleasant experiences that serve as a focal point to your direction in life.

September 14-17 (exact September 15) Mercury in Virgo trine Pluto in Capricorn. A good time to get a psychic reading, past life regression, study hypnosis, hire a private investigator, or consult a psychologist. On the shadow side, it’s also a sanguine time to be a criminal mastermind… Maybe avoid that last one… because the aspect will end!

September 11-28 (exact September 18) Mars in Aquarius square Retrograde Uranus in Taurus. This is the third square of Mars and Uranus that likely has you turning your life upside down in one or more areas. For me, 0-2 degrees of Taurus falls in the final degrees of my 12th house just before my ascendant, so this change has to do with a complete change of who I believe myself to be. It is a death and rebirth process and a 12th house surrender that is much like being reincarnated within the same lifetime. Where is Uranus impacting you in your astrology chart? Mars is no longer retrograde, so… moving forward, how are we asserting ourselves and behaving as life propels us into a new future? Since May we’ve had to retrace some ground but now we’re going to move forward into new territory. This may bring with it some new conflict in the area of our disciplines that we’ll discover, and we may make some adjustments or radical, unexpected changes. Virgo and Taurus influences can have us changing our exercise, eating, medical, financial, self-care, and scheduling behaviors.

September 11-30 (exact September 19) Mars in Aquarius oppose North Node in Leo. The changes discussed above are fated, and right on schedule. They’re for our individuation, to put it in Jung’s terms.

(–end of the Grand Cross aspects–)

September 14-18 (exact September 16) Mercury in Virgo sextile Jupiter in Scorpio. You’ll likely find it easier to see the big picture in powerful ways during this time frame. You may be able to advance in the areas of health research especially.

September 17-22 (exact September 20): Sun in Virgo conjunct Mercury in Virgo. This can be a good time for a short trip, lots of conversation, meeting people, correspondence writing, and being intellectual in general. Give presentations and go ahead and schedule social events, as your energy should be high.

Mercury moves into Libra September 22. Friendly skies have arrived! It’s a great month to clear the air with someone, as our minds will turn toward diplomacy, perspective-taking, and building bridges with one another through October 10. Libra is an air sign, which is a welcome place for the planet Mercury.

September 22-24 Mercury in Libra oppose Chiron in Pisces. These days may come with the feeling of not being able to see others’ perspectives. They may not be very harmonious days. It may be difficult to get your point across, or to hear what others are trying to communicate. Know that it will pass, and fairly quickly.

September 22 – 25 (exact September 23) Mercury in Libra sextile North Node in Leo. These are the days when you may be able to distinguish those who get you and those who are not so tuned in to your destiny. If someone can support your vision and grok who you are during this transit, it’s likely they are a keeper, because there are other stressful aspects playing a part currently. It’s nice to relax and let the North Node reveal our true “tribe” to us as we see who is naturally attuned to us and who we can easily be with during these few days. It can serve as a guide. It can also serve as a coping mechanism any time we get caught up in the energy of a stressful communication—we can relax and let go and “try easier,” as our pastor used to say, instead of “try harder.”

September 22 – 25 (exact September 23) Mercury in Libra square Saturn in Capricorn. Individual work is probably easier, since misunderstandings could occur. Pay attention to details and avoid signing any contracts or doing any heavy negotiations if possible. Be careful with your language and take any negative thoughts with a grain of salt because this transit will pass quickly. It only your mind playing tricks on you these few days and will pass.

September 22 – 26 (exact September 23) Mercury in Libra trine Mars in Aquarius. You may be able to concentrate, defend yourself, and think rather quickly with Mercury and Mars working together. You may also feel adventurous and like taking some risks. Your increased confidence is not unwarranted.

September 23 Sun enters Libra. The sign of the scales being highlighted means balance is on the minds of the people. Relationships will be at the fore as people begin to think about the perspective of others. Harmony (and disharmony) will be discussed. Things will be processed through an intellectual and artistic lens.

September 23-24 Sun in Libra conjunct Mercury in Libra. Your mind and heart will be focusing their thinking on what is fair and just. You’ll be wanting to talk and communicate, travel and be friendly. You may want to get your life tasks cleared out during this busy time or make your environment beautiful or esthetically pleasing in some way.

September 23-26 (exact September 23): Sun in Libra oppose Chiron in Aries.  A conflict that you would rather not give light to or expose may occur. It may be that you wish to stay quiet but need to assert yourself. It’s a learning moment.

Full Moon in Aries, September 24. Here you are, arrived at the end of Saturn square Chiron. Have you become a cause for wellness as Saturn asked you to? Mars is opposing the North Node and Squaring Uranus in a T-square. How is your upside-down life treating you? A Full Moon is like you are holding your arms straight out at 180 degrees. On one hand, the Moon in Aries is conjunct Chiron at 0 degrees Aries, our wounded healer teacher. We can likely feel ourselves becoming the teacher now. On the other hand, the Sun is conjunct Mercury, heart and mind both in Libra. It’s like we are learning a warrior’s stance in in the night under the Summer stars, integrating power with our experience as we call upon Spirit to work through us—knowing power is never our own but only moves through us.

September 23-28 (exact September 25): Sun in Libra sextile North Node in Leo. If you can stop and look around, you will find opportunities for personal development that help you advance your life’s destiny! People you meet now can be important for fulfilling your destiny as well.

September 23-28 (exact September 25): Sun in Libra square Saturn in Capricorn. Set your ego aside when you encounter tests and challenges, especially from those in authority or from bureaucracy. You might end up with some extra responsibility or find out you missed some details. Again, it’s your ego and your mind that need to be set aside. Embrace responsibility. Then you will pass Saturn’s test and you can move merrily along your way.

Next month, Venus Retrograde begins. However, during September, Venus is very active in preparation. This table summarizes the Venus activity throughout the retrograde time frame.

August 2018 Astrological Trends

Ongoing Celestial Influences…

Mercury retrograde in Leo July 26 to August 17. When Mercury retrogrades this July, there’s a Leo Sun-Aquarius Mars opposition Forming a T-Square with Uranus in Taurus. This can start out a tense 3 weeks when an air of over-assertiveness means you may wish to practice a good deal of patience and subtlety. Practice honesty, understanding, and use exercise and activity to channel your own energy. Become flexible and open-minded with the Uranian influence. Accidents and breakages may occur, so avoid repairing things yourself. Nervous energy in the air means it’s hard for people to pay attention, so delay any risks for later or for 2019. Give yourself plenty of time for getting lost and for delays. The most intense days are July 24-28. (The retrograde ends a lot lighter than it begins, with a conjunction to the Sun and a sextile to Venus.)

July 20, Retrograde Mars in Aquarius moves into sextile aspect to Chiron in Aries (exact July 31) and square aspect to Uranus in Taurus (exact August 3). These last until August 29 when Retrograde Mars moves back into Capricorn. Mars is providing us an opportunity to heal a wound in its relationship with Chiron during late July and August. This may happen through group and friendship encounters, the causes we champion, the ways we learn to stand up via the Uranus tensions with the Mars-Uranus square. Another possible way to harness these energies is through charitable activities and ventures. Change is the domain of Uranus and Aquarius, a lot of times technical change. With Uranus in Taurus, the arenas could be nature, the earth, finances, relationships, and the arts.

Saturn in Capricorn square Chiron in Aries. July 9- September 26, Retrograde/Direct Saturn in Capricorn square Retrograde Chiron in Aries.

New Planetary Influences…

August 1 to October 19 (exact September 23-24) Saturn in Capricorn quincunx the North Node in Leo. Adjustments to expressing the self, based on a sense of responsibility to the world. You’re developing strength at this time, as you refine your ability to be a presence and work in the world. While you are embodying your inner leader, you may feel the world is holding you back or you are not enough somehow. Rest assured, you’ll overcome this when you put in the work and effort. This is a GREAT few months for hard work and effort! It would be in alignment with planetary energies. In fact, I would be hard pressed to find any of us who will not be putting out serious energy toward self-improvement toward our goals/ambitions or molding our self into a higher level of skill.

August 1 – 12 Retrograde Mars in Aquarius sextile Retrograde Chiron in Aries. During the first part of August, it will be easy to feel courageous. This energy is about truly reviewing and understanding what sacred masculine energy is comprised of. Connection between the sacred warrior or pioneer and the doorway into our greater consciousness and our karma will be opened with this aspect. A generous flow of skill accompanies a sextile connection, and you may find your mindset naturally attuned to know when to act and when to refrain.

August 1-12 Retrograde Mars in Aquarius square Retrograde Uranus in Taurus. Find an area of life in which you can safely express your freedom seeking wild side. The need to be different can be explored under this aspect. It can be full of mistakes, disruption, inventiveness, and breakthroughs. It can also be full of rash actions, unintended consequences, and impulse. Watch out for accidents and taking dangerous risks, especially around electricity.

Sun in Leo square Jupiter in Scorpio Aug 3 through 10 (exact August 5). Work to focus on only a few projects, as this can be a time when you feel so exuberant that you believe you can accomplish anything. Practice moderation in all things. Keep your finances in check, especially.

Venus moves into Libra August 7. Relationships take center stage. There’s also a deep need for harmony, peace, and creativity. People will be enjoying their material things and desiring to possess more.

August 7-11 (exact August 8) Venus in Libra oppose Chiron in Aries. You give and give and give and give and give and give and… when will it be enough? Look to early wounds that have left you feeling as if you are not good enough to see how you can make some strides in implementing the insight that sounds so wise when you share with others, but feels so difficult to embody in your own life.

August 7- 11 Venus in Libra trine Mars Retrograde in Aquarius. Close personal interactions are favored during these days, even though this aspect does not occur exactly. It’s a great time to meet someone who will be a fulfilling long-term partner, make a commitment such as marriage or engagement, and in general, to promote relationships. With Mars in Aquarius—a fixed sign—and Venus in one of her home signs, this is a good time for loving, passionate, and long-term relationships.

August 7-12 (exact August 9) Venus in Libra quincunx Uranus in Taurus. Life is like a tornado during these days. Although this may show up in our relationships as a gentle breeze, in our nervous systems, we may feel the indecisive energies swirling about like a destructive force of nature that hits you out of the blue. Give yourself enough freedom as well as attending to your responsibilities. This will help you balance as well as possible to make decisions based upon experiential and tangible insights along with relationship events.

August 7-12 (exact August 8-9) Retrograde Mercury and Sun conjunct in Leo. This is a great time to review and edit your communications and plans. You can rethink how you will approach anything at all during these days. Since Mercury is retrograde, the advice would be to continue or redo something you’ve already started instead of starting something new. Mind and heart will be in alignment.

August 7-13 (exact August 10) Venus in Libra square Saturn in Capricorn. This aspect foretells stress in love and responsibility. It means you may be feeling low, but someone close to you needs your support and may be highly affected if you fail them. You may want to spend some time alone to nourish yourself in order to bypass any loneliness or depression. If you face fear or criticism, chalk it up to the stress of this aspect and let it move past you as you put in extra effort to make relationships harmonious.

August 9-15 (exact August 12) Venus in Libra sextile North Node in Leo. This is a great aspect for meeting the right person at the right time! Enjoy how fate harmoniously supports people and ideas during these days.

August 7 – 15 (exact August 11) Mercury Retrograde in Leo square Jupiter in Scorpio. Your high hopes for moving forward my need to be tempered as you deal with the finer details of plans you have in motion. You may be finding it challenging to concentrate, also, so watch for mistakes as a result. Pay attention to how you communicate so you keep from over-estimating your abilities, appearing arrogant, and speaking in an over-confident manner.

New Moon, August 11, Solar Eclipse in Leo. Partial Solar Eclipse in Leo. This August eclipse is inextricably linked to the July eclipses. It will be conjunct Mercury retrograde in Leo, and square Jupiter in Scorpio. There’s also a quincunx aspect to Pluto retrograde in Capricorn.

This will truly be time to let go of people who have become toxic and controlling in your life. Anything that reinforces your compulsions, prejudices, habits that control you, and addictions needs to be surgically removed between now and January, 2019. This isn’t time for indecisiveness but for elimination. You have already realized what needs to happen—you are simply continuing the process during the August eclipse. Mercury conjunct the Moon and Sun provides insight and inspiration for different ways you can adjust your life and yourself that you may not have considered, so spend some time reflecting on approaches for transforming your heart, mind, and soul in order to finish up the Leo/Aquarius theme of self-actualization within the larger community.

August 8- 15(exact August 12) Sun in Leo quincunx Pluto in Capricorn. This marks times when serious decisions or crises emerge that require you to sublimate your ego and let go as a tipping point in your evolution is reached. A person or event will let you know by the pressure or tension you feel what you need to change. Sublimation is the defense mechanism where you change a socially unacceptable action/impulse into a socially acceptable action/impulse. For example, feeling rage over an event and then instead of reacting to it—creating a work of art or a system of social justice are sublimation. In science, sublimation is the change of state from one thing to another—such as from water to ice. In psychology, Freud thought people could sublimate when they were mature (Sun). Jung thought it was a spiritual process and people had little control over the act of sublimation within their psyches (Pluto).

August 13 to November 6 (nearly exact October 10 and October 30-November 6) Uranus in Taurus square the North Node in Leo. These are fixed signs. I wouldn’t spend time trying to directly get others to agree with me, however, as each person will need to make their own decisions. Taurus is about embodiment—not conversation.

August 13 Retrograde Mars moves back into Capricorn. Capricorn is a cardinal sign and it might be tempting to start something. Mars is still retrograde, however, so it’s not recommended. Continue to wait for circumstances to unfold even though patience is difficult. Work mentally on issues of self-defense, anger, motivation, passion, and power. You can focus on systems, business, and government issues with the Capricorn influence coming to the fore again.

August 20-September 6 (exact September 2-3) Mercury in Leo sextile Venus in Libra. People will be happy to express their love and affection. Schedule some down time with your significant other, or some bonding time with friends and loved ones. Time with children is especially favored with Leo energetically highlighted.

August 23 Sun moves into Virgo. You may begin to focus on your routines, health, animals, and inner guidance during this month. Recommendations? Find your authentic healing fire. Connect to Gaia. Clean something. Make your doctor appointments that you’ve been putting off.

August 27 Mars in Capricorn turns direct and retrograde ends. Fear and hesitation begins to end. It will become easier to assert ourselves again as Mars retraces its steps and moves forward. On October 8, Mars will bypass the degree from which its retrograde initially began, or its “shadow period.” During the retrograde and shadow period, Mars energy is introspective instead of assertive. After October 8, we will no longer need to assess our desires but can act upon them directly again. We will likely see fewer false starts, hesitations, need less rest, and we’ll be able to go faster.

August 23-28 (exact August 25): Sun in Virgo Trine Saturn in Capricorn. These days highlight your long-term goals, achievements, recognition, and balance in your life. You should find it easy to work with little stress. Taking on more responsibility comes with satisfaction and higher feelings of self-worth and contentment. Feel free to mentor younger people and pass on wisdom.

August 23-28 (exact August 25): Sun in Virgo Trine Uranus in Taurus. You will be able to experience your own unique brilliance and maybe widen your social circle if you leave your comfort zone during these late August days. Uranus brings intuitive insights and revelations in a flash. In two earth signs, the adventures you can take can involve paying attention to your body, nature, finances, your routines and rituals, and interactions with the earth in ways unpredictable.

August 22 – 30 (exact August 27) Mercury in Leo square Jupiter in Scorpio. Hey! This happened August 11, too! That’s Mercury retrograde for you! Here it is again… Your high hopes for moving forward my need to be tempered as you deal with the finer details of plans you have in motion. You may be finding it challenging to concentrate, also, so watch for mistakes as a result. Pay attention to how you communicate so you keep from over-estimating your abilities, appearing arrogant, and speaking in an over-confident manner.

Full Moon in Pisces, August 26. Mars goes direct on the same day as the Full Moon, Venus squares Pluto, Mercury squares Jupiter, Sun trine Uranus and Saturn. This Moon allows us to finally move forward on the things we have been trying to accomplish since April and May when Mars turned retrograde. The Pisces Full Moon is the culmination that allows for the depth of connection to life that tells us we are unified and connected to the great mysteries of life. We have 2 Pisces Full Moons; one in August and one in September. So retreat and focus on your own healing. Work on cleansing and keep to clear energy. You can be creative and make works of art. Emotions are deep, as Pisces is water energy.

August 23-30 (exact August 27) Venus in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn. Aggressiveness and extreme behaviors may be encountered as either you or others (especially romantic partners) find harmony challenging during this transit. It’s difficult to balance out relationships, and manipulative or pushy behavior somehow seems like a good idea to us. Watch and see what comes up for you to observe where your obsessions and Plutonian control issues are to be found. Libra can also retreat and fly away like a bird, detaching too far, or putting up defenses through language.

This Month: Astrological Trends * Nourishing Recommendations

July 2018 Astrological Trends

A lot of the action in 2018 appears to be going on in June-August. July is again a very active month worthy of note! With an unusual 3 eclipses, Mercury Retrograde, and Mars retrograde, read on, fellow traveler.

Retrograde Mars in Aquarius oppose the North Node in Leo July 1-30 (exact July 18). (See June for more on this long-term Mars-North Node pairing): Assertiveness can be a lifelong study for many people. Some people try to assert themselves over others; some people become passive and allow louder people to take the stage. Often these dramas play out in our closest relationships. Communication and competition often express themselves sideways in our actions, such as addiction, anxiety, aggression, and obsession. Mars is the planet of action and our actions—especially those that feel beyond our control—are being reviewed by the Mars retrograde period in Aquarius. Mars retrograde only occurs every few years, and now is the time for us to slow down and look at how we operate. It’s not only time—it’s destined. In opposition aspect to the North Node in Leo, it’s time for us all to personally look at how our actions (especially our shadow actions) have been operating within our lives and allow our understanding of ourselves to evolve so we can become more in the future. It’s time to release the past and our old stories in order to tell a new one. It’s exciting and revelatory to be essentially reborn, or at least experience a makeover. With Leo/Aquarius involved, this is most certainly happening on a personal scale for us and may be expressed on a group level as well.

Jupiter in Scorpio trine Retrograde Neptune in Pisces all month (exact trine was May 25th) and getting closer as Jupiter moves direct to trine Neptune again on August 19 for the final time. This aspect during 2017-2018 is encouraging humanitarianism. Generosity of spirit, truth-telling, and hope are expanding. This is a long-term influence over large numbers of people. It is spiritual in its influence, as well. Destiny is calling us all forth, asking that we investigate deepen our understanding of what it means to be human in as many dimensions as we are able, as individuals and together.

Last month, Mercury moved through three signs, but in July, Mercury will spend all its time in the sign of Leo. This means we’ll be dwelling on issues of Mercury in Leo trine Chiron and square Uranus July 1-2

Mercury conjunct North Node July 2-6 (Exact July 4): You’ll be able to tell how emotionally secure you feel and how safe you feel by gauging you verbal expression. You may either talk too much or too little. If you feel secure, you will feel free to read, learn, discuss, and exercise your brain.

Mercury Oppose Retrograde Mars July 3-7 (Exact July 5): You want to meditate and relax on these days because this combination carries the potential for rushing, accidents (especially to arms and legs), nervous tension, arguments, aggression, and thought projection. Think twice and speak once. Listen more than talk.

July 3-9, grand water trine Sun 11 degrees Cancer, Moon/Retrograde Neptune Pisces (Moon through Pisces, Neptune 16 degrees), Retrograde Jupiter 13 degrees Scorpio. There is opportunity for deep transformation triggered by family/nurturing and some deep emotions with the moon traveling near Neptune. Use healing and water rituals or energies to allay any stressors at the beginning of the month. Family can be highlighted at this time to beneficial effect. This is during the July 4 holiday in the U.S., and any holiday celebrations that view the country as a larger “family” go with the flow of this astrological aspect. If you are inviting friends, you can treat them as family or talk about the concept of chosen family. With the Mercury and the North Node opposing Mars also during this time, consciously use this grand trine energy to focus on healing and spirituality centered in your heart rather than getting very intellectual or overly-active.

Jupiter turns direct July 10 at 13 degrees Scorpio. Opportunities have been slow but that will start to speed up again. Energy for connecting with others will broaden. Jupiter in Scorpio will continue to keep our focus on serious matters and we will not shy away from intensity. However, there’s a lot of hope for moving forward on issues and we can get to the heart of the matter and exhaust every resource to learn and make progress. Correct any imbalances you may find yourself feeling and focus on emotional nourishment. Mercury is square to Jupiter at the time when Jupiter turns direct, so concentration challenges may leave you focusing on details when you’d like to focus on the bigger picture. Your optimism could blind you to how you’re expressing yourself—you could come off as unaware of how you sound so use care in your speech and communication style. Make sure you keep from over-committing yourself out of a sense of optimism, also.

July 10, Venus moves into Virgo. Venus forms a grand earth trine with Uranus in Taurus and Saturn in Capricorn through July 16, when the Moon also conjuncts Venus in Virgo. This time period provides support for health and well-being activities. Saturn and Venus can work in conjunction to support disciplines that help to promote both health and wealth. Uranus can help with unexpected benefits.

Eclipses during July and August ask us to make adjustments more quickly than we are used to. It’s a little bit rare to have eclipses overlap in two families of signs, each along an axis, when we have three eclipses in a row. An axis is made up of the signs that sit opposite one another on the wheel of the zodiac. This marks the end of a 2017-2018 series of eclipses along the Leo/Aquarius axis. Eclipses happen during big events in life such as a birth, marriage/engagement, promotion or contract, important travel, sale of a house or a move across the country, surgery, a new course of study, divorce, book publication, etc. Something memorable is frequently happening to you or those you know, and timetables are often accelerated and re-arranged. The themes are linked by the family of signs for a few years and then a new theme begins when the eclipse signs change.

Cancer New Moon Solar Eclipse, July 12 8:48 PM: Evolution is upon us, however it shows up. Question your tried and true ways of operating in favor of forming new habits and beliefs about yourself. Write down a new life plan and get ready to set your plan in motion! With the Sun opposite to retrograde Pluto at this time, it appears we are all dealing with balancing out destructive characteristics we’ve picked up along the path somewhere. You probably already know the ingredients that make up the recipe for disaster for you, personally.

For example, this Fall the pace of my life will be moving so much faster and I realize I need to move tasks off my plate to accommodate for the new activities I’m scheduled to incorporate. This means restructuring and surrendering control to my husband over things like the family finances—starting right around the time of this lunar eclipse. Letting go of power and control over something like the money matters is quite Plutonian. If I were to try to hold on to everything and keep adding on activities—that is a recipe for disaster for me, personally.

This is the first eclipse along the Cancer-Capricorn axis. We are slowly moving from eclipses on the Leo-Aquarius axis to eclipses along the Cancer-Capricorn axis. Eclipses bring with them life’s big events, and when something new begins, something else generally ends. The Cancer-Capricorn eclipses are likely to bring events around themes of emotion vs. logic, home/family vs. career, intention vs. result, mother vs. father, past vs. present. This first Cancer eclipse introduces the personal side of the series of eclipses and will work on our psyches more than on external structures in the world.

When Pluto is retrograde, themes repeat until we eliminate the destructive elements. This can have to do with our sense of what is powerful, addictions, spying or manipulation, prejudice, jealousy, theft or violence, and breakdowns or destruction of possessions. Events could occur outside of yourself, if you’ve been resistant to change, or if you’ve been engaging in destructive habits that need to be altered. Consider this Pluto sweeping through to transform your life for the better, whose broom we have zero control over. If you’ve been instigating change in your habits all along, you may find this a gentler time. Even if we’ve been doing our part, big events can occur to accelerate our evolution. It’s a powerful aspect, within a 1 degree orb, so it’s nearly exact. The good news is that this aspect provides for personal mastery over our inner demons through determination and active self-advocacy (the opposite of inner passivity).

The way to advocate for yourself is to use the energy of the earth grand trine between Saturn in Capricorn, Uranus in Taurus, and Venus in Virgo to ground your changes into permanent new ways of thinking (Uranus), believing/acting (Saturn), and feeling (Venus). This is an ideal time to learn how to utilize the trine energy—which you need to seek out through daily meditation and prayer practice—in a methodical structured manner. Earth asks you to do the practice and study aspects—to do the work deeply and humbly—of growing and transforming. If you have talked about spiritual practice and failed to spend an hour to two hours a day in contemplation… If you have not yet found a counselor and mentor to help you work through your past triggering issues, yet can see the value in it for other people… If you keep putting off the changes you know you need to make… Life is asking you to embrace today as the day you stop waiting. Priorities need to be rearranged now in order to flourish. Astrology seems to say time’s up for putting off the healthy new habits. This trine will support you in providing a soft landing and the resources you will need to make a bridge and restructure your personal life.

Sun enters Leo night of July 22. This is the Sun coming home to its own sign, returning to its home country. No longer a diplomat, the Sun can speak its home tongue for a month. This time should spark a sense of fun and joy, with a contagious enthusiasm. Generally abundant goodwill prevails during the month of Leo, and often you can see the child come out even in the oldest of people. In fact, you may wish to surround yourself with children this astrological month. Be generous and playful. The shadow side of Leo is narcissism, selfishness, and lording things over people. The highest expression is sunny creativity, servant leadership, strength, and warm-heartedness.

Aquarius Full Moon total Lunar Eclipse, July 27 2:20 PM: The last Aquarius eclipse in the series of the Leo-Aquarius eclipses is a total lunar eclipse in late July. The Leo-Aquarius family of eclipses have been occurring for about a year and a half, asking us to evolve our relationship between self-determination and collective or community well-being. This final Full Moon eclipse will fire up our emotions in the realm of public welfare and have us questioning what actions we should take as we move into the future. This is a time when we feel self-regulation issues (Sun in Leo conjunct the North Node) are in high focus, opposing the Mars/Moon conjunction in Aquarius. The Sun/North Node are in square, or stress aspect to Uranus in Taurus and trine, or easy, aspect to Chiron in Aries, while in quincunx aspect to Saturn in Capricorn. So there is a lot triggering the Sun, which rules the sign of Leo and is at home. Leo and Aquarius are both fixed signs, with Leo being fixed fire. The Sun represents self-expression and an outward projection of being. It can be creative and purposeful in Leo, or if in shadow expression, narcissistic, self-centered, selfish, and blind. Linked to Uranus in Taurus under stress, the Sun may impulsively form relationships or try to get creative or make financial decisions that are sudden and stressful. Hopefully, Saturn’s adjusting influences will be able to come into play to keep in check Uranian impulses. The hope is that when feelings arise that make us feel we should be taking up a crusade (or worse that we should be playing the role of the bully), we take a step back and realize the feeling is something in the air and should be considered after a long while—not acted upon impulsively. Instead, use the ideas of working on oneself—to increase self-regulation and to understand how one’s wounds affect your functioning—to see how you can be of better service in the world. Or read about history and learn about community organizing as the action you will take. Or study something deeply useful for social justice or society. This is a great time to learn and grow forward as opposed to acting out. You can also use the time to express yourself creatively, as that is a high use of the Leo energy, as well. It’s possible that many artistic works (and manifestos) will manifest themselves during the months prior to January, 2019.

Partial Solar Eclipse August 11 in Leo. This should be mentioned because it is inextricably linked to the July eclipses.

This isn’t time for playing games but for elimination. You have already realized what needs to happen—you are simply continuing the process during the August eclipse. Mercury conjunct provides insight and inspiration for different ways you can adjust your life and yourself that you may not have considered, so spend some time reflecting on approaches for transforming your heart, mind, and soul in order to finish up the Leo/Aquarius theme of self-actualization within the larger community.

July 19-24 (exact July 22) Venus in Virgo sextile Jupiter in Scorpio: Best time to schedule a party! Especially to hire someone to do tarot or astrology readings at your party with the Jupiter in Scorpio influence.  Venus in Virgo is all about improvement, too, so if you are moving house or want to do a makeover party, friends will likely be receptive to this. Good time to be with people or expand into places where people can handle the mysteries and depths of life. You can go beneath the surface with ease. You can also find yourself and other charismatic in romance and in travel.

July 23-27 (exact July 25) Venus in Virgo oppose Retrograde Neptune in Pisces: The work during these days is to integrate higher and lower emotions, and/or to balance out ideals with physical or emotional realities. Make sure you keep it real. Take good care of health and keep to physical and spiritual disciplines such as mindfulness and exercise.

July 25-29 (exact July 27) Venus in Virgo trine Pluto in Capricorn: The end of the month brings the possibility for new love relationships, good friendships, or a rekindling of passion in current relationships. Also, you could spend time redecorating or investing in solid financial matters.

Mercury retrograde in Leo July 26 to August 16. When Mercury retrogrades this July, there’s a Leo Sun-Aquarius Mars opposition Forming a T-Square with Taurus Uranus.

July 26-30 (exact July 28) the Sun in Leo conjuncts the North Node in Leo at 5 degrees. This a quest to develop your inner strength. You may find that you experience times of loneliness. These times are part of your lesson to forge your own creative life in order to give generously to the world.

July 20, Retrograde Mars in Aquarius moves into sextile aspect to Chiron in Aries (exact July 31) and square aspect to Uranus in Taurus (exact August 3). These last until August 29 when Retrograde Mars moves back into Capricorn. Mars is providing us an opportunity to heal a wound in this relationship with Chiron during late July and August. This may happen through the group and friendship actions, the causes we champion, the ways we learn to stand up via the Uranus tensions via the Mars-Uranus square. Another possible way to harness these energies is through charitable activities and ventures. Change is the domain of Uranus and Aquarius, a lot of times technical change. With Uranus in Taurus, the arenas could be nature, the earth, finances, relationships, and the arts.

The dates and details are as follows:

Nourishing Recommendations

You can learn so much about Tarot from Susyn Blair-Hunt, my wonderful mentor, in her book, Tarot Prediction & DivinationUnveiling 3 Layers of Meaning.

Tarot Prediction and Divination

(Llewellyn also publishes the best selection of Tarot decks that I’ve discovered.)

Homeopathy and Core Synchronism have changed my life. First, I was immediately able to breathe after experiencing asthma-like symptoms for years. Many other improvements followed. Here are practitioners I recommend:

Eva Lipton-Ormand, CHoM, CCSP – in Albuquerque, NM

Elizabeth Battarbee of Flourish, Doctor of Homeopathy – available via Skype everywhere and in-person in Louisiana!

Elise Hensley, LISW, an amazing healer, specializing in EMDR and Neurofeedback. Elise is one of only a few people trained in Neurofeedback in our area. She is someone who is a skilled and amazing mentor. Better yet, your insurance may cover your sessions.
