Continuing Influences

January 22-February 1 (exact January 27) Venus conjunct Neptune in Pisces: A time to slow down and connect spiritually and deeply with the many dimensions and realms of the spirit. Our relationship to the divine is available for a serious visit or upgrade with Venus and Neptune together. Whatever your beliefs, pay some close attention to giving yourself a Neptune dosing. It will be healing and wonderful and help out a tremendous amount.

January 15-February 5 (exact January 26) Venus in Pisces square Mars in Sagittarius: You might feel very exuberant about moving forward but it’s too much right now. The tension is there for a purpose. It could show up as a relationship slowing you down or you don’t have enough resources to do what you want to do. Maybe your creative vision won’t come alive yet. Be patient. Have faith.

January 29-February 4 (exact February 2) Pluto in Capricorn sextile Venus in Pisces: What a nice boost of universal star sign support to get the ego out of our relationships with Pluto and Pisces in the mix! Something actively moves us out of ourselves and into a space where we are together and probably working toward something mutually beneficial.

January 9 – April 25 (Exact March 10) Chiron in Aries square the North Node in Cancer / January 9 – April 25 (Exact March 10) Chiron in Aries square the South Node in Capricorn: This is the time to figure out what hurts and what helps. Stand up for yourself and do what is good for your inner self so your life energy is protected. The spiritual warrior in you is ignited and the earth mother is trying to have a dialogue with them. There is a lot of healing and finding the path forward to figure out. Do your work.

Leaves  May 8 2020 11:22:19 am (MDT +6:00) (exact January 12), return to orb May 17-December 26 during Saturn retrograde (never exact), Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn: This is one of the most powerful aspects of our lives, and a once in a lifetime occurrence. The opportunity to deconstruct and reconstruct a new world. A steady and consistent effort can provide a way to work within the world that will honor our values in a noble way. Nature is larger than man, and we need to align with a higher vision as we make a new world, culture, society, and systems. The idea that men are machines or the ideas that our parents and the world has transmitted are not aligned with higher values. Saturn is the lord of karma and Pluto is the great destroyer/transformer/re-maker. Together, they can embody some larger conversations among nature and mankind is part of nature.

February 2020 Astrology Trends:

January 1-October 30 (exact February 20, July 27, October 12) Jupiter in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces: When the expansion of universal governance meets consciousness in the most active of supportive aspects, this can provide an interesting mix. This is a non-personal aspect but I think it will affect us all in personal ways depending on how it touches our chart. With Venus integrating alongside Neptune, relationships and/or values will certainly be deeply activated. Business and financial relationships may shift to a deeper or more spiritual slant. What do you have in water and earth signs in the middle degrees?

February 2-16 (exact February 10) Chiron conjunct Venus in Aries: This is a great time to start something new in regard to the subject of what you have been subjected to in life. What have been the ways you have experienced tyrants in your life? Where have you been the scapegoat? What relationships have been difficult where you’ve felt victimized? It’s time to address them or you will find yourself experiencing stress as a result—it’s healing or stress during this time period. We can have many experiences this month that let us know our old models of the world are ready to change—this is one aspect supporting that.

February 3 Mercury in Pisces: The messenger in Pisces is not delivering messages in a straightforward clear fashion. Reflection is a large part of interacting with water. Maybe so is drowning and swimming and floating. The mind and thinking and information are important parts of living but they are not the only ways of knowing, and maybe that’s the intelligence to pick up during Mercury in Pisces. We are attached to our old models of the world, and what we perceive are only are perceptions and models. Mostly what we interact with, see, work with is space and the edges of things—we can’t actually put our hands inside the things we touch. We only touch the edges of them. On a molecular level, we can get down to an observational dimension where we see edges themselves as space and potentiality—a quantum possibility. To swim in the depths of the new phase as Mercury crosses over into Aries and brings new concepts to us, to absorb new knowledge, long-assumed beliefs and things we thought of as facts may need to be questioned and set adrift. Our own proven assumptions and cherished and long-held beliefs… may become challenged. If you find yourself drowning, maybe that’s a little bit what it’s all about. Like dreaming of falling turns into flying—when your brain is drowning, turn it into swimming, grow gills and relax into the possibilities….

February 3-7 (exact February 5) Mercury in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus: A boost or wave of mental energy that sweeps the mind into the depths of the ocean. Which can leave you feeling overboard or leave you feeling expansive and integrating subtle information on a psychic level—as if you are connected to a consciousness that senses the slightest wind like a blade of grass in the slightest breeze.

February 4-December 23 (Exact April 4, June 29, and November 12) Jupiter conjunct Pluto in Capricorn: This is the aspect that brings us the telescope and the microscope. How much more literal and down to earth could the fusion (conjunction) of the planet of expansion and size (Jupiter) conjunct transformation (Pluto) be? Now we’re looking into black holes, still looking at space in new and revolutionary ways… In conjunction also with Saturn I feel it does have something to do with time and “event horizons.” However, in spiritual and evolutionary terms, we can take that into examining the black holes in our own lives. Where are we losing power? What energy holes and vortices need to be “closed up?” That’s a revolution and transformation that can serve us if we telescope and microscope in and out within our lives and take a look at how we are doing.

February 4-April 7 (exact March 14) Uranus in Taurus sextile North Node in Cancer: Unifying Uranian consciousness within our bodies in a grounded manner to bring into conscious awareness Taurean stillness and peace is something truly sacred that can occur now and through the next six years (approximately). With a sextile to the Cancer North Node now, the experience is something that touches our sensitive hearts and human bodies asking us to understand the poetry of how water meets land—the sand and wave of ocean or lake shores. The North Node is shifting from the idea of family and mother and nurturing this year to knowledge and communication as a focus for our collective and individual destiny. We need a pause such as this to actively consolidate and bring forth reflections upon what we have learned about the human family, and in this sense it is family related to our higher consciousness. What may we need to let go of (like Uranus killed Saturn in the myth) or allow ourselves to create, in order to progress?

February 4-April 7 (exact March 14) Uranus in Taurus trine South Node in Capricorn: It would be so easy to expand whatever work is in front of us, to “go with the flow,” because there is probably a mountain of it, and miss the opportunity to reflect on quieter voices calling us. The questions about values and ethics and what mountains are worth climbing have never been more important.

February 5-13 (exact February 7) Mercury in Pisces trine North Node in Cancer: The still quiet voice of destiny, the ethical dilemmas that challenge the status quo, the things that stop us from group think—may be the confusing elements that are expanding our mind and helping us integrate the Mercury in Pisces compassion, spirit, and learning in more experiential and sympathetic processes now.

compassion

February 7-16 (exact February 12) Venus in Aries square North Node in Cancer: This is a hard one because it’s about the individual in a stress aspect to the family structures. It requires courage be activated within us—that’s the transit of Venus through Aries which lasts until March. We need to fight for ourselves (even if it’s only in our own imagination) and our needs and may be experiencing conflict either internally or externally due to past stories while we need to practice some new behaviors and skills or envision a new role for ourselves. In fact, the future is simply at odds with a past we can now let go. The most positive path is embracing the new identity and looking forward to Springtime archetypes as a time a birth and renewal.

February 7 Venus in Aries: Today I was so close to a bird flying in the late winter juniper at a high altitude on the mountain (at least seven thousand feet up) and I could hear the breath of a bird that I kept thinking sounded like it was a mammal—I was looking for a little fox or something more terrifying. It was only the bird—making its loud panting in the rocks and trees to my right. The little birds that will try to survive the Spring are like Venus in Aries—needing other birds and all the relations in its environment to subsist. Needing to develop the courage to die trying to survive the extreme nature of its environment. Not even yet understanding its peril and the effort it will take to develop the hoarse lungful of survival song it will need to eat or be eaten. Sometimes you have to fight for things. Know what you are fighting and identify the worthy position—if you hear the breath next to you on a lonely trail—make sure you know your situation when you take up arms. We can sometimes fight for our anger, our addictions, our positions of power that mean nothing ultimately. What do we fight for? Might doesn’t make right.

February 8/9 (around midnight in the United States) Full Moon in Leo:  A Full Moon for self-expression. Take some time to enjoy something wholeheartedly—movement, get a makeover, a massage, give a performance or take in a performance. Here are some examples. Enjoy your children with all your heart. Get married/engaged/make a commitment (no return), make a grand gesture, give a gift from your heart. Go ahead and do the thing you have wanted to do for so long. This Leo Full Moon means to live a day where you only go forward—no backsies. It’s like skydiving and enjoying the law of gravity thoroughly.

February 16 Mars in Capricorn (through April 1): It’s time to climb the highest mountains, provided the mountain you are scaling is worthy of your assent. Self-discipline takes the place of ego and broad confidence (maybe over-confidence) that you have been experiencing while Mars was in Sagittarius. You may find yourself feeling you can concentrate on a single task, that you have deep commitment to enact, and nerves of steel. You may be blessed with focus but make sure you consciously stoke the fires of a warm heart, too. Capricorn can get cold and calculating. Keep away from that shadow side of Mars in Capricorn. Keep your priorities straight and your body healthy, also.

February 17 (until March 8) Mercury Retrograde: 12 degrees Pisces back to 28 degrees Aquarius (March 4 Mercury enters Aquarius again / March 16 forward again into Pisces): In case we were wondering, the skies and the astrological fates believe we should focus our minds thoroughly this month and into next on our compassion, good hearts, creative knowledge, emotional thoughts, and the element of water. Pisces Mercury is described above, and retrograde will only mean we back off from placing our thoughts into boxes. We’re finishing up with the past and we can do much more with meditation and kindness that we can with organized and single-pointed thoughts. We’re going to need to relax and let life lead us right when Capricorn is also asking us to work super hard on some projects. This is a fascinating combination of astrological influences. It means we will not get to predict anything and yet will need to put in highest levels of effort. Trust and faith, Piscean arenas, will be needed. And that’s underscored with Mercury reversing through Pisces.

February 17-29 (exact February 21) Chiron in Aries square Mars in Capricorn: This aspect almost writes the tale and is so emblematic of Hercules (Mars) unknowingly shooting his poisoned arrow into the flank of his mentor, Chiron, shooting at shadows in the sky. Creating a wound in Chiron that could never heal. A morality tale to try to help us or at least warn us about how harm creates endless suffering that has been told in old stories and do we truly want to keep re-living the same stories in endless repetition? It begs the question of whether humans—individually and in groups—have free will and intelligence or are unable to break free of learned and transmitted behaviors from previous generations. Can the human species learn?

February 17-March 1 (Exact February 21) Mars in Capricorn trine Uranus in Taurus: There is an expansion of the ability to tap into the ability to slow down and translate consciousness into something earth-bound. Ideas can find their way into action and manifestation. What a beautiful period of quiet productivity is possible.

February 17-28 (exact February 23) Venus in Aries square Jupiter in Capricorn: It could be too much of the good stuff! This is a tension aspect between the two benefics. Venus is wishing to get a bunch of exercise or do some rigorous lovemaking, perhaps, in Aries, you know, because it’s good for your heart! Meanwhile, Jupiter wants to enact something epic at work or run a marathon or build a skyscraper… this afternoon! So, we need to keep to our self-care and take good care of our bodies and ourselves, for example, while building a new world/system. It looks like the personal vs. political, the personal vs. work priorities astrologically. Good stress to have, probably, as it means a lot of opportunity. You can do this! (Try to pay attention to balance and remember the larger picture and there will be lots of time, ultimately. Beginner’s mind is a good place to inhabit.)

February 18 Sun in Pisces: Blinded by silk… The Pisces Sun is focusing on softness and compassion, art and creativity. Pisces can be surprisingly inflexible when stressed. Healing, staying open-minded, linking to something larger than the self are all important aspects of Picean times. Staying free from compulsions and addictions are the challenges.

February 18-March 6 (exact February 27) Mercury Retrograde in Pisces trine North Node in Cancer: This is an opportunity to see how you fit into the greater family of life. Based upon your past, you can tell a new story for the future and heal neurologically, if you consciously choose to do so. There are many tools to do this—Byron Katie, Joe Dispenza, have a few techniques I like to use myself when I need pivot to healing thoughts.

February 19-25 (exact February 22) Sun in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus: Activation of your own unique brilliant ideas can enliven your self-analysis in surprising ways. I’m excited to see what insights you receive. Keep your Spidey senses activated.

February 19-March 3 (exact February 23) Mars in Capricorn oppose North Node in Cancer: Get your workout in on these days and focus on your tasks while also focusing on integrating the larger perspectives and values in your life. Do your work diligently and also balance your vision of what true priorities your heart holds.

February 19-March 5 (exact February 24) Sun in Pisces sextile Mars in Capricorn: You can use this to drive creative projects forward. Activating the Mars battery bunny energy of Capricorn and the Piscean stellum of authenticity can allow for meaningful integration. Communication can truly bring some great artworks into manifestation—and I am excited to see what people create near the end of February!

February 20-29 (Exact February 25) Sun conjunct Mercury in Pisces: The Sun gives a large amount of hot tub Pisces energy to Mercury (and the Moon!) to truly help integrate and express feelings and emotions. Pisces can mean creative and artistic expressions receive a jolt and inner reflective journeys of all kinds are supported and renewed. You’re sure to find some deep, fascinating, meaningful ways and words to communicate.

February 23-27 (exact February 25) Mercury Retrograde in Pisces sextile Mars in Capricorn: Active energy for the courage and initiative to move forward based upon the insights and experiences Pisces has been gifting during February (probably at the New Moon stellum).

February 23 New Moon in Pisces: The Sun and Moon, along with Mercury, meet for this New Moon to help us consolidate our thoughts, beliefs, and values with deepest compassion for ourselves and others as we get ready to moves into a truly revolutionary 2-year period and the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction comes into view. This is the final New Moon in the final sign of the zodiac and is truly the end of a long cycle of self-review to allow us to reflect in many dimensions and acknowledge that we know (to know is different than to imagine, to think, to believe, to plan, to develop) where we need to go from here. We each have a sacred role in the human family on planet earth at this time, and just being here is enough. If we have been doing our conscious part, the past few years have taken us on a quite a ride as we asked the questions about what we are supposed to be doing here. We probably had quite a lot of direction changes. Now we have some guidance although not all the details. This New Moon is the time to have a commitment ceremony with ourselves and maybe one or two close ones as we dedicate ourselves to work for the highest good.

February 25-March 2 (exact February 28) Mercury Retrograde in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus: Another aspect pointing to the fact that life wants to give you insight into your unique self and how you can live authentically and think about who you are and how you can conceptualize your identity.

February 25-February 19, 2021 (Exact December 21, 2020) Jupiter conjunct Saturn in Capricorn: This is the beginning of the true change that helps you make the transition through the barriers that will help you grow into your new role/identity/beyond current boundaries. This may or may not involve a paid career, but I suspect it involves a “calling.” Depending on your developmental state of being, whether you’re age 8 months or 80 years, this calling may be to form and shed brain cells or to accept retirement. Many of us are forming new ways of being in a very uncertain and shifting world. I am learning to become a writer. Maybe an independent one if I can make a structure around it. What barriers have you faced and how can you, in real time, in real life, manifest and overcome them—this year? It is a year to become real about supporting yourself and your community with meaningful and authentic contributions. And all with methods that make sense for you instead of the old ways. Shedding the old ways is one of the most important things we are all doing—like snakes shedding our outworn skin. We HAVE to leave some parts of ourselves behind (fears, self-defeating behaviors and beliefs, demands that leave us depleted and over-extended). We won’t be carrying things forward and letting go will be the key to making important contributions. And one of the most difficult things we will do. This will span 2020 and 2021.
